The atmosphere is beautiful & the setting & service 1st class but the live music was unrecognizable at some moments the sound verybad. Joe Carr is usually much better.. BUT!?! Unfortunately cant say that about the food.. We were a table of three all of...us had issues with our food the starter snails with arjoli was tasteless & snails were in the majority tiny, the fried ġbejna too oily my partner couldn't get herself eat it all.. Then the disastrous main course, Two small pieces of rabbit & I mean small, dry as ever (believe me I love my local Rabbit) the liver pate' that came with it was abysmal, my partners mum had chicken which she enjoyed & my partner had a prawn cocktail literally 1 single prawn. 1, ONE! dessert was ok. the wine great. Then we were given the bill where listen to this was NOT GIVEN A FISCAL VAT RECEIPT , I had to ask for it the so called unprofessional manger replied oh.. so you actually want the receipt? So this might be happening often? Avoid if you want REAL genuine & well priced & portioned Maltese cuisine avoid here.. You'll be disappointed & still hungry as we were.. UnfortunateMore

We took part in the traditional folklore evening which they hold on Fridays. This was a fun experience including pick up from your accommodation, a tasting menu of traditional Maltese cuisine, free flowing wine and water, and the dancing show. The service was attentive, and...the owner will come around personally to ensure everything is ok. The food was nice, clearly an excellent example of traditional Maltese dishes. The fish stew contained more bones than fish, but the rabbit stew was great. The dancing was fun and interesting to watch many dances from the culture. A fun night for anyone wanting to go back in time and gain a better insight into traditional Maltese culture.More

Well given the covid situation we needed to stay at home and ordered a traditional maltese meal to enjoy with some senior family members. It was honestly delicious, everything was cooked perfectly and delivered in containers with extra care not to ruin any food. My...horsemeat was out of this world. Prices are also very reasonable given the kind and amount of food.More

Most of the restaurants in Malta serve Italian or international food, and we wanted to try real Maltese cuisine. We found this restaurant and decided to try local food there. We had an excellent moment: the staff is extremely friendly, the food is excellent and...reasonably priced. The wine and food selection offer a wide variety of local specialty. I strongly recommend this place as part of a Malta experience.More

Firstly the best thing about thos restaurant is the hospitality. Belinda and Ruth were managing it own their own and were doing an excellent job. Nothing was too much of a problem. They went well above and beyond of their normal duties to accommodate us...- even brought out a balloon for our 2 year old. They are great assets to the restaurant. It was lovely to see picture of Maria around the place as it elevates it from just a restaurant to being the legacy of a person who clearly loved Maltese cuisine. The food was delicious. We had the snails, fried ravioli, pasta with Maltese sausage, blue cheese ravioli and bragioli. Nothing to fault there and delicious. All 3 of us had the ta Marija Trifle because the menu really sells it. We were however really disappointed (probably heightened by the fact that this dessert carries Maria's name with it). The chocolate and vanilla custard had all melted and disintegrated the sponge (I presume, as I could not detect any soild sponge/biscuit) leaving a soupy texture behing with solid ice crystals in it, then topped with whipped cream. It will certainly not be something I'll order again. Having said that, given the very good main courses and excellent hospitality I would consider visiting again.More

It being several weeks since we ate here before, the occasion of my wife’s birthday gave us the perfect excuse to return with her father, nearly 94, for Sunday lunch. As ever, it did not disappoint, and quite the reverse, in fact. Bean and pasta...soup for father in law plus aliotta for the married couple, precede by nibbles, were followed by bragioli for him, fillet of sea bass for birthday lady, and, as a real treat lampuka, brilliantly roasted for me. All were accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables. A true feast, delicious in every sense, with excellent wine to accompany it all. Desserts were available, but with bloated stomachs at the end, they nibbled away at a light pastry dish while I did my best to drink my way through a cognac or two. Just why I rate this restaurant so highly is easy to explain. First of all its Maltese food is terrific, served in substantial quantities and with professionalism. But in addition, the serving staff here are as warm as it comes. Leone has been here for yonks and is always the perfect gentleman, whose charm rubs off on all the rest. Belinda has been here not quite so long, but what a find she is. Her service is second to none while her welcome is a revelation and, despite being busy, she always seems to have so much time dedicated to making customers happy. The final part of this great team serving us on the day was young Ruth, a student who provided the same level of competence, professionalism and style, coupled with charm, boundless energy and attention to detail. She seems destined to go far. We were all truly impressed, and the sense of happiness among all three and the pride of working at Ta Marija was much in evidence. Benny, the proprietor, had an engagement similar to my own that day, but deserves so much credit for being able to deliver such excellence time after time. Thank you Ta Marija for another truly great occasion.More

we booked our Sunday lunch, and I can say that it was an amazing experience. We were welcomed with such hospitality, as we were given our table. The menu is very vast and caters especially typical maltese dishes. Complimentary antipasto was served. It was delicious....We chose 2 starters to share, the snails, and the Maltese sausages with caramelised onions. Main courses we had the tagliata (cooked perfectly) and rabbit. Oven baked potatoes was served as a side dish. As a dessert we had dates and their special ice cream. The food was just wonderful. But the service and ambience were just perfect. We felt super safe at this restaurant because they were really careful and attentive to the restrictions in place at the moment. Will definitely visit again.More

With celebrations muted this year, it was so nice to spend an evening at Ta Marija, where there is such a sense of fun in the air! Great food (with some interesting options I didn't expect!) and lovely service from everyone, including Ben who is...the Master of Ceremonies with flair. Salman, our bar waiter, deserves a special mention as he was superb, so kind, friendly and fun! Well done to the whole team and thank you! Great folklore show too.More

Ben, the owner was pretty kind and helpful from the first moment. Even, when I only enquired about the booking. We could feel the real Maltese hospitality which comes from the bottom of his heart and it was just the beginning. <3 When entering the...restaurant, Ben came to welcome us and wished all the best to our anniversary and the freshly-experienced engagement. We even got a special table for this occasion. As I experienced, for the Maltese people the family and the family relationship means a lot. Ben and his colleagues made their best to meet the guests' needs. We had a delicious rabbit platter for two and shared a bottle of tasty local wine. We attended on a folklore show where the ladies danced for traditional Maltese songs wearing traditional dresses. Oh, how we loved that positive, high-vibe. :) At the very end of our night Ben gave a surprise for us. He sang a song, especially for us and we danced on the dancefloor. I can not describe with words that happiness and grace which I felt and still feel it today. Thank you and your colleagues' kindness, caring, the most honorable table in the world 😍, the folklore show, your amazing song. The opportunity to celebrate our double happiness with you. THANK YOU for making our night unforgettable. We wish all the Best for ALL of you and restaurant in the future. Violet and TamasMore

Visited Ta Marija once again a few weeks ago with my mum and auntie whilst on a short welcome break from the UK. Times are very different currently but this didn’t stop us having a fantastic meal served up by our very attentive waiter for...the evening, Leone. Tables were spaced out far enough so as not to be on top of others, hand sanitizer when you entered and waiting staff masked appropriately. Menu was plentiful and food was fresh and full of flavour. Unfortunately we had to quarantine when we returned home, but I cannot wait for restrictions to ease so that I can book another lovely holiday on the Maltese Islands, my second home 💕💕More
