From the outside, this looked a great choice but it proved a bad mistake.. We only wanted quick sandwiches so we could spend our precious time exploring beautiful Mdina. It took quarter of an hour till we could get our order taken. Worse, the kitchen...was clearly horrendously understaffed and it took another hour to produce three simple sandwiches, despite several polite reminders. There is a single male toilet and a single female toilet, so there were queues for both. When I came to pay, this was the only place in Malta which actually asked if I wanted to tip. When I declined, explaining it was our worst eating experience on the island, there was no apology or comment. Mdina is far too interesting to waste any time here.More

We stopped here for coffee and cake after visiting the cathedral and museum. The view from the terrace is wonderful. Service was quick and friendly. Coffee and cakes were delicious and very reasonably priced.

We like to come here for dinner, specifically the Del Nonno pasta plate, finished off with a gateau slice which the establishment (joint with Fontanella, if I'm not mistaken) is renown for. Situated in the silent city of Mdina, with it's characteristic, traditional Maltese construction,...it is a very romantic spot which is also great for chill get-togethers with friends and family and solo outings.More

Overrated. Cake is ok but definitely not the best. Too much sugar. Flavours are not balanced. Service is not attentive. We tried the caprese salad and it was under average. Tomatoes worst we had in all of Malta, mozzarella was ok. Server with basil and...Rucola but no pepper or salt. Overall it was boring and unfortunately the worst eating experience in Malta and gozo. The view is good from the terrace but in the evening there was strong wind and changing places was not possible. But that's not the fault of the restaurant. We will come back to Mdina but not to this restaurant FontanellaMore

Have been several times but was my first time taking a platter. We happened to be there during the happy hour so we enjoyed delicious cocktails and one of the most abundant platters. What a great meal that was!

Mdina is amazing ... and especially at dusk. We had a wonderful wine and cheese date looking over this unbelievable ancient and historical setting. Great service, too!

I made a reservation at Vinum Wine Bar two months in advance, since I wanted a particular table, as I was planning a proposal for my better half. On the day, I called to confirm my booking, and was happy to hear that it had...been pencilled in, including the table I requested in the room to the right of the restaurant. When we arrived, I was further surprised that not only had they reserved our table, but they had actually closed the entire room for us for a private dining experience - at no extra charge! Being a wine bar, they obviously have a huge selection of wine, however the food was also fantastic. We had a mixed grill platter to share, and it was very good. Perhaps my only very minor complaint was that it might have been served a little warmer, but it's a very minor complaint. The staff were very friendly, and wished me luck for my proposal (privately of course!). Everything went well, and we were even given two complimentary glasses of champagne following our meal. We went in winter, but if you go in summer make sure you book a table outside, as the view is breathtaking1More

I visited Vinum twice, in different circumstances, and both times I was very pleased. Staff are polite and attentive. Food is very good and the atmosphere is very cosy and nice. Definitely recommend.

I ate pizza and it was a big mistake, in the middle it seemed raw and the bread didn’t look fresh. It wasn’t a good experience at all.

Arrived early in the evening with my young family and was seated no problem. Initially told that they would not do a small portion for a 3yr old by one waiter but told by another waiter they could when we discussed potentially going elsewhere. Food...arrived quickly and there was no Chilli in the Del Nonno (filet beef pasta which mainly had mince in) as advertised on the menu. 3yr olds food arrived in an adult portion and salt and other condiments never arrived. Waiters had no manners and didn't ask how the food was, I'm not a fan of overly attentive waiters but here you get nothing. They were mostly interested in pointing out to each other some of the females that entered the redtaurant. The place can and does charge a premium because of its location but it is a bit above its station and lacks genuine quality and customer service. We had a much better meal and service the evening before at Coogis which is in the same area.More

Seated immediately with a great view. The waiter was attentive, but some of the food wasn't very good. The kofte was not fresh and the cheese platter was stale and cold served. The bread was served in a bag like for ducks. We weren't impressed...by the food, but the view was great at night.More
