The best Michelin I have been The food was very elegant and menu great the wine list perfect The lemon suflê was the best The veal as delações
I’m of two minds writing this review. The restaurant is a gem in terms of location. Tables are placed on top of the fortifications of the Mdina city with a unique amazing view on the island. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food...is well prepared and presented. But… I got sick during the night after dinner there. Being celiac I made sure they knew when making my reservation and when entering the restaurant as well. And they seemed to pay attention to my allergy for each of the dishes, and brought me GF bread. But something must have slipped their attention in the kitchen, I don’t see any other explanation for my symptoms since. So in the end, this is a wonderful restaurant, but I would be cautious going there if you’re celiac.More
If you are ever in Mdina, you must visit this restaurant. They amouz bouché started things off with big smiles for both my husband and I - caviar, a sun dried tomato canoli, and tiny cones of horseradish and tuna tartar; they were all incredible....Not to mentioned paired with a 2017 Sauvignon blanc that was not only an incredible wine by itself, but also elevated the start of the meal. This is also credit to an amazing sommelier that asked for our taste profile and customized the pairing to our liking. The next dish was a langoustine with ham hock ravioli over a bed of kale. Another surprising association that tickled our taste buds. All perfectly paired with a Sicilian white wine. We can go in and on, but to summarize, the food is incredible with the ambiance to match. If we ever find ourselves in Malta, we will be sure to make a special trip just to dine here again.More
Great experience about the restaurant the restaurant locates in the old capital Malta and at the percent, it becomes a hot place for traveling, therefore,it is easy to get there for visitors and they can enjoy in experience of having fine dinner here.
A wonderful Michelin rated restaurant located in a lovely historic building in Mdina. Excellent food elegantly presented. Great service too. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
My gracious, what a wonderful restaurant. Having tried DINS in Mallorca (also a 1 star mich restaurant), we were hooked on doing one fine dining experience, where ever we travel. De Mondion was no exception. From table service to food, to sommelier and her wines,...everything was absolutely decadent. We were able to bump our reservation from last year to this current year because of the Big Pandemic. So, we had a three course tasting menu instead of the five, which was more than enough food. We received little side dishes throughout the experience and we were stuffed. The pigeon and sucking pig are delicious. The bird comes with a delightful beet concoction and the pig was perfectly crackly. The sommelier paired both of those exquisitely. My favorite was the lemon souffle. It was just amazing. Hot and delicious, with a cold streak from the ice cream, followed with a sweet and fluffy meringue. Our server, Angie, was absolutely the best. She was on top of everything we might've wanted and provided us with great detail on our dishes. We felt like royalty being served by her and the delightfully knowledgeable sommelier.More
This restaurant has it all. Great Location forming part of a historical building in the Medieval City Mdina, Great Service & Food and a Unique view of the island from the Balcony. Must visit for food fanatics...the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
We had the tasting menu, which was fantastic. From the appetizers, which were unique and perfect to start a meal to the fish courses that complimented the wine pairings perfectly. We scheduled a late lunch which was perfect for our schedule around a short tour...of Mdina. Great history and great food. They deserve the highest Michelin rating possible. We have eaten at Per Se in NYC and the French Laundry in California and this was just as pleasurable.More
What an amazing experience. We booked the restaurant in our first Malta evening and it was simply the best. The place is super cozy and the service spectacular. Truly Michelin star worth with everything they offer. Our kids had an amazing pasta and got papers...to paint while we got spoiled with lots of different food. Wine pairing was also very interesting, an evening to remember !More
Absolutely incredible from start to finish! Wonderful service, exquisite food and a fantastic view over Malta. Cannot fault it at all. Would thoroughly recommend!

Came here for Valentines evening dinner, and have to say the place really lived up to its expectations. The ambience and venue is remarkable - and dishes and flavour simply mind blowing one dish after another was more impressive then its predecessor. I cannot recommend...this venue enough. After this pleasant dinner Chef Kevin toured the restaurant and met each and every customer which i felt was a very i nice gesture. Quite clearly what this gentleman can create in a kitchen is magical. The icing on the cake was the finale the mind blowing passion fruit waffle, am still licking my lips today three days later. Very well done and keep up the impeccable standard, a a fellow restauranteur but have to say that thsi establishment is simply the best on the island. HIGHLY RECOMMENDMore

A bit disappointed. Service was impeccable (if one is okay with hovering). The chef’s little extras at the beginning of the meal, a nice idea, had perfectly thin and crisp exteriors, but the fillings were far too sweet for the beginning of a meal. The...beetroot gnocchi starter was sweet as well. The main was delicious, if a bit dry. Consistent with our dining experiences in Malta, dishes were light on vegetables, and thus felt unbalanced. Wines were paired well thanks to a knowledgeable sommelier. We don’t really understand the Michelin Star designation and high prices as we have had equally good, or better, meals in our hometown and around the world for far less expense and far more soul and authenticity.More

This stylish Michelin starred restaurant is located in the "Xara Palace" hotel, close to the main entrance of Mdina. Booking is undoubtedly essential as "De Mondion" was almost full when we arrived for dinner on a Tuesday evening in late-November. We made 3 selections from...the "a la carte" dinner menu, starting with risotto and foie gras served 2 ways (pate and freshly booked) and these were preceded with a selection of amuse bouche and freshly-cooked bread. Both starters were good, if a little underwhelming in terms of presentation. We followed these with mains of beef fillet and suckling pig, but the latter was disappointingly overcooked, leaving it dry and almost tasteless. However, I'm pleased to write that, having drawn this to the waiter's attention, the Sous-Chef appeared at our table, apologised and the item (Euros 42) was deducted from the final bill. The kitchen returned to form for a dessert of raspberry souffle, with a scoop of ice-cream melting into the centre. Overall, the flavours were good, but the presentation throughout was fairly average. The wine list was wide ranging and included a good selection of Maltese vintages at reasonable cost. The staff were friendly, professional and efficient throughout and our issue with a main course was resolved promptly. Had this been a less expensive restaurant, I would have rated it as "very good", but given the cost and in the context of Michelin starred restaurants, the average presentation and the lapse in the main course warrants a reduction.More
