Awesome seafood lunch

Had lunch here and was very impressed with the quality of the food. I had a fantastic octopus fried in Garlic & mrs V had a grilled piece of very fresh swordfish (which was one of the three fresh fish available on the day). The portions were very generous and the food was very well cooked. The dishes were served with chips, fried courgettes and a mixed salad. The staff were lovely and very friendly and helpful. There were also nice touches like a free plate of brushetta with your drinks too. The restaurant is in a nice location on the main seafront road in Marsaxlokk and all the tables are outside on the pavement under a nice big shade. The prices of food were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I have been in Malta for 8 weeks and this is definitely the best food I've had. Service is brilliant and the fresh fish that I had was beautifully cooked and presented. The main course was plentiful served with fresh veg, potatoes and a salad and bread. All I can say is well done on everything and keep up the good work!

Excellent Food with Great Customer Service.

Amazing food and very generous portion sizes. Collectively, we ordered two mixed seafood platters, octopus (starter) and seafood linguine (main) for the three of us. In hind sight, one portion of the seafood platter would have been enough for two. The food was extremely fresh and sourced locally, aswel as the local wine. The wine was smooth and had an amazing price tag. I would highly recommend eating here. The waitress was extremely nice and friendly

We stopped for lunch and spent most of the afternoon enjoying the delicious sea food plater and a bottle of local white wine. Excellent service and beautiful sunlight setting. Go there.

My wife and I were pleasantly informed about the menu and were shown the catch of the day (which we did not choose because the fishes were too big). Furthermore, the staff liked to serve which made us feel at home. The food (see bass and swordfish) was very well prepared as were the side dishes. The price for it all was very reasonable. We warmly recommend this restaurant.

Ta Mattew experience

I visited the restaurant on Sunday 20th with my sister and two friends , Marsaxloxx was very busy , market in full flow and everywhere was busy, as had arrived later than intended. What I loved about Ta Matthew is that is is family run and serves excellent food, my sister and friends opted for the sea food linguine, all fresh as you would expect and I opted for the Seafood platter. A real first for me was the octopus, soft easy to cut and delicious. The sea food was complimented by a half bottle of La Valette blanc. Despite it being a small restaurant, tables outside only where you can watch the world pass by. It’s food and charm and service were excellent.

A good find in Marsaxlokk

Had a lovely lunch at Ta' Mattew during a recent visit to Marsaxlokk. There are numerous restaurants to chose from but I think we chose well. The staff were friendly and polite and the food was tasty and fresh. We had some swordfish and sea bream and these were delicious. The food was accompanied with some roast potatoes, chips, fried courgettes and a small salad. The bill came to around €45 with a couple of soft drinks which was very reasonable. Definitely look Ta' Mattew up on your next visit and enjoy some fresh fish whilst overlooking the harbour.

Delicious dinner in Marsaxlokk harbour

We sat at a wobbly table on the pavement in the street. The food marked had been over and it was possible to find a free table. Two waiters made their best to make the table more stable and at last they succeeded. We had studied the menu before so it didn't take much time to choose. We ordered the Aljotta (fish soup), calmari fritti, octopus, the Mix Seafood x 2 and white wine. The fish soup was good but not excellant. Perhaps it was prepared just like it should be. All the rest was really excellant. We don't mind the wobbly table as it was situated on an uneven pavement. As a matter of the fact it matched well the harbour quay. We had a really good time. The prices were not especially high if not for the Mix Seefood (EUR 24,50). However the MS was a really big mix. We were satisfied wit the service, too.

Delicious fish, friendly service, good value

I had a delicious lunch here on Sunday. It’s a very small restaurant with a small menu and from my experience excellent food. I ordered the sea bream and a beer. The fish was cooked to perfection and came with delicious roasted potatoes and a small salad. They also brought me a small appetiser of pate, olives and bread which I fully expected would be charged as a cover charge but was not on the bill and was provided on the house. The lady who was serving was incredibly friendly, probably the nicest service I’ve had in Malta. All round delicious and good value lunch.

We come many times here, because we are friends cq family, Last night, we came between 20 and 21. I must eating early because appointment by hospital, they prepared everything for us they where realy busy, but i eat at 20.30 by salmon, fresh tast great and so And they make a suprise for my loveone birthday make a cake for her. Realy realy Bro chef matthew and siisy marrialla grazzy hafna, fornthe evening I left 22.50 the place because my appoiment in hospital. Best meal in Malta

Stopped here for lunch and didn't expect much, but it turned out to be the best meal we had while holidaying in Malta! Service was very friendly and attentive, but the highlight was food. I had a set meal: bruschetta, mussels (these were so fresh and tasty!) and grilled fish, which was absolutely outstanding and cost around €15. My boyfriend had veal steak and was raving about it for next few days. Great place, recommended!

Lovely family run restaurant

Small family run restaurant on the Marsaxlokk strip. We went on a Thursday lunchtime and it was quiet and we had excellent service from the waiter whose name I didn't catch unfortunately. The whole red snapper was excellent as was the accompanying Maltese wine

We chose this restaurant for dinner. Very good and fast service. We ordered some calamari as a starter to share (amazing) and a pasta dish per diner (abundant portions). In addition, they gave us some olives and a kind of pâté at the beginning. Bread with butter included in the price.

We chose this restaurant for our dinner in Marsaxlokk and didn't regret it. The service was polite and quick, the food was delicious. While in a harbour, the seafood should be fresh and taste like seafood. And that's where Matthews's delivered - nice, fresh and tasty meals. We really enjoyed our prepared 'catch of the day'. A quick chat with the owner was an added bonus.

One of the best meals we've had in a long, long time. We went on a Sunday, which probably wasn't the best idea since the famous Market is more hype than reality - and a lot of cheap Chinese stuff. But this family owned restaurant knows its stuff. Everything was super fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful and friendly and their suggestions were on point. Try the vongole or the lobster pastas. They are to die for.
