The story of Ta’ Frenc as we know it today is the story of two very young men, Ino Attard and Lino Cefai, who, more than 30 years ago, recognised in the crumbling limestone walls of this centuries-old farmhouse, a possibility, a dream, a promise, a renaissance. Literally stone by stone, step by step archway by archway, they restored the building without destroying its soul. Original features such as the animal mangers were retained and these are now a feature of the bar area. The high-ceilinged airy interior is divided into different areas by archways and screens. Mature trees were retained, and others planted. And thus they created Auberge Ta’ Frenc, which opened its doors to the public on
As soon as you walk in, it’s not your average restaurant. An incredible set up to the restaurant gives you a wonderful experience throughout your meal. Excellent service, food was exceptional, and price range is bearable.
Unsatisfactory experience at Ta Frenc Gozo Last night.
While the staff were ok for a normal restaruant, they definitely were miles away from being a staff accustomed to a fine dining restaurant. The only thing positive about the restaurant is the location.
Our initial drinks...came at different times.
Wine and water was poured by ourselves.
Our starters came before the wine was opened. Waiter did not know the specials and mentioned the steak comes well done 👍 (obviously was not the case).
The starter food was ok except for the risotto which was tasteless and over cooked ( we informed them about this as one person had ordered it for main and didn’t want to have it overcooked and tasteless - which turned out to be the case, if not worse).
2 of us ordered veal liver, which costed 35 euros each, was inedible. Lamb, tasteless. Something was definitely off last night. Everyone wanted to get out of the place ASAP and no one ordered dessert. After 20 minutes of waiting and trying to signal a server for the bill, we finally managed, in which we ended up paying at the bar to avoid waiting another 20 mins.
After paying and Literally on the way out of the restaurant we were then offered a Complementary drink on the house, it was not the time or the place for it as we were all ready to leave, standing up, halfway out the door.
Very disappointed to say the least and this was definitely the last time we dined there.More
My taste buds were awakened beyond belief when dining with great friends at Ta Frenc.
To be welcomed by the owner Mary Grace was a delightful privilege.
The menu selection offers something for any taste and the chocolate fondant was superb
A Gozo restaurant never...to be missed, especially if you are invited to visit the wine cellar dining room.More
We were looking forward to dine here. It said it opens as 19.00 but all pitch black when we got there. Would be nice to update your website Ta' Frenc Restaurant not to waste your potential customers' time.
We planned to get married here next year and after visiting we were impressed with the setting and staff.. all booked for June 19th 2020.. since arriving back in the UK we’ve had no response whatsoever from the restaurant despite sending numerous emails..looks like we’ll...be going elsewhere.. very poor and and very disappointedMore
We had a quick response to booking a table online before our holiday after reading positive reviews.
The restaurant is within easy taxi ride from Victoria and is set away from the main road. We were warmly greeted and the staff were attentive and informative...about the dishes. The atmosphere was just right, relaxed and friendly. Our group had a mix of the Terra and Mare Taster menus. All the dishes were delicious, well presented and colourful. My own favourite dish had to be the beef cheeks - melted in the mouth and so tasty. The palette refresher of Manderine and Thyme was outstanding as was the Balsamic Caviar dressing with the Fassona beef!! There is an extensive wine list with local and international varieties.
Would highly recommend!!More
What a lovely place, had one of the set tasting menus and didn't regret it one bit. Both the food and the service stood out for me and they have an extensive wine list which should cover all tastes. Many thanks to the staff who...really made this stand out.
Expect amazing tasting food, in a lovely environment, served by competent and welcoming staff.More
