HISTORY OF THE RESTAURANT The Stone Crab restaurant is located in a unique spot in the picturesque fishing village of Xlendi Bay, Gozo. It is situated at the water`s edge and sheltered by high rising adjacent cliffs. The restaurant opened its doors for business in the June of 1990. The premises date back to the late 90`s, as a garage where the boats of the family of Mr Bernard Cutajar were kept. The premises eventually were bought by one of Mr Cutajar`s grand daughter, who now manages and runs the restaurant. Over these two decades, the restaurant has gained popularity and has become a favourite among locals and regular visitors to Gozo. ABOUT OUR CUISINE The Stone Crab specializes in local and Mediterranean cuisine. It also serves a variety of delicious fresh fish dishes, including the crab as one of its main popular and recommended dish. Besides of fish dishes, the restaurant serves also pasta, meat and pizzas.

Me and my partner turned up around lunchtime and was told we could get a table outside that's not near the water (which we wanted) but that in 5 minutes time a table would be available. Not even 2 minutes later, had they got us a table and cleaned it completely.
We weren't sure what to get as the food on the menu looked so nice but we settled on the seafood platter after the waitress had described more about it. I also asked for some local wine to go with the fish and asked the waitress what would be a good pairing to which she happily obliged.
We were told the food might take a while as all good platters do and that in the meantime we should have some warm bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and butter which was a fantastic touch. They even gave us some bruschetta in the meantime.
When the food came, it was everything we expected and more! The whole meal and wine was great but the octopus stew (which is a Maltese tradition) was my favourite. The wine was paired perfectly, the food was delicious and the scenic view all made the meal one to remember. We didn't get a dessert (as we were so full up from the platter) and as we went to pay the bill, they gave us a complimentary limoncello each.
All I can say is the value, friendliness of the staff, view, food, wine and experience was amazing...we hope to return one day.

We have been going back to Stone Crab for many many years and we were never dissapointed. Their food is simply divine.
Last night we ordered a take out and we chose their spaghetti marina and pizza margherita
Both very tasty.
They also included some toasted bruschetta complimentary.
Hope to be back soon.

From the start, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, informing us of the fish of the day and recommendations. The setting was stunning alongside the Xlendi waterfront. Very good selection of Gozitan and Maltese wines to choose from. Menu was well balanced with plenty of seafood - good selection of fish of the day too! Also got bruschetta and limoncello on the house - a great dinner all-round. Would very much recommend for a romantic meal with a partner, but BOOK IN ADVANCE! This place does get packed so don’t expect a peak hours seat if you turn up on the day.

Starter (cold platters) took an hour to arrive. Main courses another hour despite many reminders. Half the hot dishes were cold. One dish, spaghetti ragout, did not appear at all. One sharing dish of seafood had to be sent back it was so bad. The lamb was cold and fatty. 4 people out of 8 effectively did not eat ( made sandwhiches when we got home). Euros 200 for a resoundingly appalling experience. We live in Gozo. Will not return!!

Food was just NOT good. I can’t believe how everything was tasteless and bad. Either overcooked or undercooked.
We had to return the fried calamari as they were too chewy and tasted of nothing. “ Octopus stew “ was not edible for me and my husband tried to eat it not just not return that dish too. Crab tortellaci super overcooked and tasted of nothing. Side vegetable seemed to have been prepared for ages, even the chips was oily. Best thing was my sons tomato pasta. Service was slow too. Will never return. Shame as this place was good.

We recently enjoyed a very pleasant lunch with a friend in The Stone Crab. It was much better at this time of year (January) as it is extremely crowded and noisy in the summer months. Service was excellent and the food very good. I enjoyed calamari cooked with pernod and a mustard sauce which came with potatoes and vegetables and my friends' meals were both good - a vegetarian pizza and seafood spaghetti. Bruschettas were complimentary. We look forward to returning and enjoying this restaurant which is right on the shore overlooking the water of the harbour.

We had a romantic dinner here after a long day at sea. The staff were sweet and knowledgable. I always felt they would take care of all our needs. We had the seafood pasta and it was DELICIOUS with small details and finishing that normally belong in high end venues. The setting by the bay was otherworldly with fish and ducks swimming just by our side. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Gozo.

Fantastic local Restaurant in the secluded Bay of Xlendi. I have been to this Restaurant for a decade now and the food is excellent. It is so good that it turns your bad day in an excellent one!!!! Fish, chicken, pasta, seafood, steak, anything you ask for is a guarantee of high quality and excellence.....don't miss this opportunity to pay a visit because it is the place where you should spend your money on food.....

We always choose this one. The first time we chose this restaurant, just.because it's in the middle, now because it's the best. Today we chose garganelli with prawns and my husband chose spaghetti marinara Al Bianco. Well we shared and got to taste both. Amazing food. I cannot forget to mention we were welcomed by Jenny who is such a well educated person. Then Ergys waited us all along, together with his friend from Albania. ( Sorry did not get the name of the latter) we came here at 2pm where they accepted us willingly. They even let us stay on at table even after they closed shop for a good rest before they
reopen for the evening shift. Thank you all, we shall definitely come back and

I would recommend The Stone Crab Restaurant in Xlendi Bay Gozo for its very good food, service and ambience. We were a family of six and thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides very reasonably priced. Well done and keep it up!!🙂

21 years and counting I have never had a bad meal in all my time visiting stone crab.
Staff very helpful and friendly nothing is to much trouble.
Food is amazing from fresh fish which is caught daily to meat dishes cooked to perfection.
I would recommend booking a table and also take in the stunning views of xlendi and its bay.

I grew up in Xlendi, but unfortunately never visited this restaurant, so while on a short trip back home, my partner and I decided to check it out. And boy oh boy was it the best decision ever. The food was phenomenal, great portions, the food was reasonably priced for the portion and quality and the service was fantastic! All in all, we definitely highly recommend dining there.

Had a meal hear last night that was fab and great value for money. Firstly I'm 6'6" and enjoy a meal, not arty farty pretty stuff!
The meal included bread (Which went to the fish and ducks) pre apitizer, mixed Gozo platter, the mains were Spag Octapus and a Pepperoni Pizza. The food especially the Spag Octapus was excellent, the pizza was large and tasty and at the end of the meal my wife and I fully sated.
Very good service and food, plus a couple of drinks each for 55 Euro, Wow
Definately going back.

We ate at The Stone Crab three times during our 10 day stay. We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and it never disappoints. The food is always lovely and the staff are attentive and welcoming. They have put excellent measures in place due to Coronavirus and these do not distract from a lovely restaurant experience next to the sea.

Came here on our last trip to Malta.
What a beautiful place, fabulous position and the food was divine.
The staff couldn’t have been nicer, you only had to raise your hand and someone was there to assist.
We couldn’t fault a single thing on our day and we are hoping to return soon x
