Stiff and stuffy, nice nouvelle cuisine but we all left hungry and went to the Barony for coffee where we were made most welcome with friendly staff.

After reading a Scottish Food Review blog (great wee blogs with a bit of humour) my wife and I decided to spend a couple of nights in the restaurant, well the rooms to be more exact. We had spent the day at the Air Show at East Fortune and then travelled down to The Horseshoe Inn, the Sat Nav took... More

Although it is advertised as a Restaurant (with rooms), we thought we would try it as a base to travel around the Borders. The rooms are not the Ritz, but very clean and comfortable. The bed gave you a very good nights sleep in a quiet atmosphere. But where this Inn excelled was the food and service. I have never... More

We had an amazing experience at the hotel. Complimentary tea and coffee on arrival and was shown to our room. The room is ok for us and the bed is great with the free cake and fruit downstairs. We decided to go for the Surprise menu which was a ten course tasting delight with wine paring. It was fantastic. We... More

Absolutely worth a visit. Very upmarket, wonderful food and excellent service. Stopped in by chance after a long journey north on our way back to Scotland. Very busy for a country restaurant but once you are in you can understand why. 3 set menu's to choose from all reasonably priced and varied.

We had a wonderful weekend in the Scottish Borders which included a walk beside the river Tweed on Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening was spent in the dining room of this exceptional restaurant where we enjoyed one of the best meals we have ever had. The service was very good and every course was served with great care and attention to... More

We visited the horseshoe for a meal whilst on holiday for my wife's birthday. We had not heard of the restaurant before and had no preconceived expectations. We were both delighted to find this was one of the best meals we've ever had. We ordered the a la carte menu with wine. The food and accompanying wine were delicious. The... More

Very lucky to enjoy weekend break here.Taster menu was excellent--beautiful presentation and great mix of flavours from locally sourced produce all served in luxurious but homely surroundings by staff who were attentive and knowledgeable about their food.Accommodation had everything you would need with lots of nice personal touches.Would highly recommend this gem in the borders

Visited this restaurant not realising its quality given its location. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and service. Staff were a bit stiff but none the less a lovely meal. And a nice finishing touch for our anniversary

Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.
