My wife and I had a lovely meal here. The menu is quite extensive and there are lots of waiting and bar staff who absolutely work their socks off. The quality of the food is excellent and is very popular with the locals. We were there on a Saturday evening and the place was jumping. It is very well worth a visit. We had a chicken tapas dish with salad which was delicious. Give it a try. You may need to book if visiting at the weekend.

5 tapas were enough to feed 2 hungry people (plus puddings admittedly). Everything we tried was good, including the smoked puffin. The dishes that were supposed to be served hot could really have done to have been a bit warmer but overall we really enjoyed our visit. They make very good cocktails too.

We had a great experience at Tapas Barinn on NYE. We enjoyed the meal our two girls and another couple and could not have had a better experience. The adults enjoyed a tasting menu that was spectacular and the restaurant was extremely accomodating with our girls' meal. Although one daughter is an adventurous eater, she and the less adventurous daughter preferred to have the accompaniments on the side rather than on the main part of the dish. The restaurant gave them beautiful dishes with the sauces and extras in ramekins. I was so grateful that they were so friendly about it and it allowed us adults to really enjoy each course of the tasting menu. Super creative dishes, delicious drinks and a really fun environment. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We'd been wandering around Reykjavik all afternoon in the snow and it was time for sustenance! We responded to the advertising board outside Tapas Barinn and though they weren't quite open, they welcomed us in and made us feel incredibly comfortable. We chose to have the Icelandic Gourmet Feast between us (we are mother with small apetite and son with bigger apetite and an adventurous palate!).
I can honestly say this was one of the most exciting meals I've ever had.
We began with lamb with liquorice sauce, moved on to smoked puffin with blueberry and brennevin sauce; arctic char with potatoes, asparagus and hollandaise sauce; garlic baked lobster tails; minke whale with sweet potato mash; ling with lobster sauce; lamb tenderloin with cauliflower puree, beer sauce and beer gel and, finally, white chocolate skyr mousse with passion fruit glaze and passion fruit sorbet. Every course was beautifully presented and completely delicious. It was the highlight of our trip to Iceland and I've raved about it ever since we returned home.
If you're looking for an excellent meal in atmospheric surroundings attended by delightful people, look no further. Truly wonderful.

This was such an amazing experience. We ordered the Icelandic Feast and were treated to 8 courses (1 was a surprise complementary course) of traditional Icelandic food. We also ordered a few pitchers of sangria which was AMAZING! This restaurant is very good at pairing flavors. Everything is so complementary to the star protein of the dish. The service was also top notch! I highly recommend a visit!

What a gem of a place this is . It is relatively small but very cosy with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overpowering . We chose six different tapas between three of us while my husband had a huge meat selection all to himself . The food was delicious and beautifully presented , with the sea food options being particularly special. The vegan cheesecake for dessert was quite a revaluation . We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and it made the last night of our holiday very special .

This restaurant exceeded my expectations. All courses are tapas but much larger than the regular tapas portions. The lobster in garlic sauce, grilled shrimp, the salmon and grilled octopus are must orders. I highly recommend 3 to 4 orders per person. The vegan cheesecake is sinful.

I came here with my boyfriend as we wanted to use the 2for1 offer by Nova that is on Mondays and Tuesdays. The price for the 7-dishes-menu without offer would be 8990kr, a bit pricey, and that is why i put 4 stars instead of 5. We ended up paying 4500 pp ofc so we were pretty satisfied.
The food is very inventive, tasty, varied and it's really a lot, we were super full at the end. The déco of the place reminds of some spanish bodega and it's quite cozy. I was surprised because of the service, it was very good when usually in Iceland is very mediocre, if not bad at times. So i am very pleased with this place and I recommend.

Absolutely fantastic food! We went with friends and chose the different set menu options which meant we got to try lots of different tapas options. Every single course was delicious, beautifully presented and the portions were not small! The staff were excellent at ensuring all of my options were gluten free, (essential as I have Coeliac's, its not a food fad) and i suffered no ill effects afterwards, so they clearly knew what they were doing. My husband loved that he got to try lots of Iceland's culinary delights and we both agreed that this was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Would totally recommend a visit.

Low quality food for high prices! Would not recommend to go there. There are better places to eat in Reykjavik for the same price. We ordered 3 tapas dishes and two drinks and received a bill over 100 euros.

We had a bunch of different recommendations from friends and family and were very pleased that we chose to eat here.
It has something for everyone and the staff are very polite, helpful and enthusiastic about the food.
It’s hard to recommend any one thing over another as everything we had was tasty. However my stand out dish was the Blue Ling with lobster sauce it was sublime.
We arrived quite early midweek after a long day and by about 7.30 the place was quite full and had a nice buzz.
I would highly recommend Tapas Barinn.

This bit of Spain in Iceland is a lot of fun. It was packed yet the staff was attentive and particularly helpful in dealing with my food issues. There are many different items to choose from particularly in the tapas category. Don't let them "oversell" you at the start as you can always order more items. Everything we had was delicious.

It’s like a pub serving tapas. Lots of loud music and the average customer age I would guess is about 25.
Service wasn’t bad and some of the dishes were tasty and much bigger than regular tapas size.
However the potatas bravas was molten lava hot and had obviously been microwaved which was disappointing (and a little dangerous as it burnt my mouth) but this reheating process seems to be common in busy Iceland restaurants.
This place is not a bad option if you are a young adult wanting a lively night out with your mates or a date but it isn’t the classiest restaurant.

We did the 7 course chiefs choice. The food was good but the problem was that the waiters had no idea what they were bringing over and there for we didn't either. The first course had 4 tapas dishes the waiter was not going to present it to us. Then when we asked she only knew 2 of the dishes. Later on they brought a dish and introduced it as beef but was clearly chicken.
One dish was artic char that was oilier then then an Alaskan rig and should really not have been served.
If a restaurant wants te be upscale they have to teach the staff how to preform. Went there last time 4 years ago and the quality has really gone down hill

We spent a week in Iceland for our honeymoon and ate at different restaurants every day. We wanted to try as much of the local cuisine as we could. We went to Tapas Barinn on our second to last night in Iceland and loved it so much we went back the next night. It was by far the best meal we had while we were here. The food was delicious (we had the Bullfighters Tapas, a lamb tapas, and their world famous chocolate cake) and the service was outstanding. Everyone we talked to was really nice and friendly and made our overall experience that much better.
