Quiet, cosy place. Not much to do during Covid season. We deciced to order take-away. That was a hit. I ordered the salted cod with cashew and raisins and my wife the braised cod in mustard sauce. These 2 dishes were phenomenal, fresh and almost...wriggling from the ocean. This place is a must for fish as well if you fancy puffin or whale meat traditional.More

If you wanna taste a whale and puffin meat, they have it. Even among appetizers so you can really just taste it. Or have a regular steak of whale. Tiny place with many different decorations. Not much space to move in between the tables. But...nice staff and chef (he came to bar to check on us himself).More

Without doubt the very best traditional Icelandic food we have ever had. Probably the best meal we have ever had with having travelled the whole world.

Loved this place. Visited for dinner in early May 2020 when many of the Reykjavik restaurants were still closed during the COVID-19 close down. Fabulous service and brilliant food - all cooked and served by the Head Chef. Terrific menu - with some remarkable Icelandic...dishes - and nice to see that it caters so well for both locals and visitors. 5-star in every respect.More

This was by far the best food that we tasted in Reykjavik, albeit it was at the higher end of the budget range. Their menu includes Icelandic specialties not offered elsewhere (puffin, guillemot billed as ‘sea bird’). Presentation was cordon bleu standard, portion sizes just...right. Beer was reasonably priced particularly for a restaurant. Staff efficient & friendly. The only thing that let it down was the dearth of dessert choices (no matter as we’d had an excellent sufficiency).More

Loved this place. Went for lunch and we had the Guillemot and Whale as mains. Great to eat local dishes that you wouldn't get at home. ( after all isn’t that one of the reasons for travel). Both delicious, whale was very tender and the...Guillemot was like a rich partridge in game sauce. Had a coffee and two White beers, total was 9200. Service was friendly with very good English. Its a bit out of the down town area in a residential street but well worth the 10-15 min walk. Top tip, like a lot of restaurants around the world the lunch menu is cheaper than the evening menu, even for the same dishes, roughly 1000 cheaper for each main. Would recommend.More

This is the restaurant to come to if you want to try foods you can only get in Iceland. Our party all shared bits of our meals, so we could all try everything. We had puffin, whale steaks, whale sashimi and guillemot. As well as...being unique all the food was excellent quality, beautifully cooked and well presented. The service was very friendly. Although the restaurant is well known, it has a cosy, local feel. The whale sashimi was so good we ordered a second portion to take back to our holiday apartment.More

Quaint atmosphere and amazing food. I sought out this restaurant for an authentic dining experience as they serve puffin, whale, horse, and shark (among other delectable options) The smoked puffin and horse steak are well worth the $$$$. The staff were all lovely, friendly and...very helpful. Highly recommend!More
