The seafood gratin was absolutely delicious. Rich, creamy sauce and plump seafood. Definitely will come back the next time we’re in town

One of the longest standing great quality restaurants in town. The setting is rather simple and old - like the establishment. It’s THE place to try whale, puffin, fermented shark and tons of other typical Icelandic specialties! We had pepper steak whale, cod, guillemot breast...and halibut as main. The first three were excellent, unfortunately the halibut clearly overcooked. A real let down after delicious starters (puffin, fermented shark, cured salmon).More

Perfect little restaurant to try out Icelandic food. We started off with a appetiser sharing plate, which has whale sashimi, seared whale, gravlax and puffin. It was the coolest thing I've seen and taste in long time. And for main courses we had few different...dishes, whale steak, seafood gratin and fish. Best seafood gratin. And the whale was amazing. Thanks to our waiter Marta and Eane. You guys were the most attentive.More

This was one of the best, if not the best, meal I had in Iceland. The cod with mustard sauce was outstanding and the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We wanted to try local Icelandic favorites in a well rated restaurant and this did not disappoint. The service is friendly and the presentation is very pleasing. There is a wide variety of local fish available and also more exotic options such as whale sashimi...and puffin breast which we enjoyed. We met a very nice couple from Denmark who come to Iceland often and eat here frequently and confirmed that the quality of food here has been solid for the last 20 years!! All in all I would recommend this place and definitely come back if I am back in IcelandMore

What an incredible dinning experience this has been 12 years later! We were so excited to be back here a dozen years later, and to have the same outstanding culinary experience, made it even better! From the moment we walked in, Jane greeted us with...open arms! Even though it was pretty busy for a Friday night, we were randomly assigned the same table from 12 years ago! We started off with some cocktails, paired with a few local appetizers. My wife loved her sashimi whale, and I was OK with the fermented shark. They even gave us a fish cevice, which was really good. We then shared a few dishes, including the Smoked puffin, the minke whale, the halibut with langoustine, and the horse steak. I really liked all of them, but my two favorites have to be the horse steak and the halibut. This was such an incredible meal, especially since the waiting staff, Jane, Alex, and Leo were super professional, and very attentive! Compliments to the chefs, Stéfan and Rúnar for an outstanding meal, and for signing a copy of the cooking to us. Tak, Tak, Tak, and Skøll for am amazing culinary experience, and memories that will last for a lifetime!!!More

We came here because of the great reviews. It didn’t disappoint. It’s a small space and I’d recommend a reservation, but the food comes so quick, Renee our hostess was so kind, the staff was great! We came to try the small plates to sample...a variety of unusual Icelandic foods. The presentation of all the dishes was beautiful! We tried puffin, horse, whale, and their vegetable, cream of mushroom, French onion, and fish soups. We liked the horse and whale the best, fish and cream of mushroom soup were our families favorites as well. It’s also a very nice dining experience in the quaint old building.More

I thought I will never have a bad comment about any restaurant in Iceland as most the ones I tried were great 3 Frakkar is one of the worse Resturant I been too. A very simple thing in any Resturant if the gentleman who is...taking your order bring your order wrong he should take it back and change it that’s how it supposed to be done. I ordered my halibut fish with roasted potato and i clearly said sauce on the side and the order came covered with sauce, raw cooked fish and the gentleman said he wrongly punched the order as they were busy and he offered dessert who cares about a desert if the main dish is totally wrong smallest potato different from the one we saw in other reviews and fish under cooked covered with sauce Resturant is all about hospitality and welcoming guest and smiling this was the worse service I ever had. On other notes mussels were great and yummy Off-course I don’t recommend this place for any one Thanks SariMore

If you are looking for authentic Iceland cuisine in this lovely city, you can be assured to find it at this wonderful restaurant. It is a tiny space, so YOU NEED to reserve a table. We saw many people turned away. The food is fantastic....The best herring we have had in many years, made fresh on sight and served 3 different ways. Offerings of local sea birds, puffin and guiletmot, also whale shashimi, and of course, the pungent marinaded shark. We tried the whale and it was great. Passing on the seabirds, all of us had fish entrees and they were fantastic. Halibut with langoustine garnish, flaked fish pie, and plaice. The wine was lovely and service amazing.More

Off the beaten path from the main street and restaurants, we were a bit skeptical on the walk over. We declared it was going to be either really bad, or really good in a bad area. Thankfully the latter! Small with little rooms, we were...in a sun room which was nice and warm in the early evening sun. We had the traditional cod hash based on recommendation, and the pan fried halibut with langoustine. Wonderful local rye break came with it and the house glass of wine was fine. we loved it and highly recommend taking the walk over!More
