Very disappointing: what seemed to be frozen fish and soggy oily half-cooked fries. Staff much more interested in their phones that in the food. Avoid.

Stopped here for a quick lunch across from the Maritime Museum. Loved the fish. Batter was crisp and thin; cod was moist and flaky. French fries were fine too. We ate at the picnic table outside the restaurant and just watched the world go by....Price was reasonable and it looked like a favourite of locals.More

We were left disappointed with the fish and chips from here. After having fish and chips at other spots around Iceland, we decided to treat ourself in Reykjavík on our last night. Unfortunately this was the worst we had. The fish was dry and flavourless,...the chips were average and overall it was quite expensive for what it was. I recommend having fish and chips at the glacier lagoon instead!!More

Excellent fish and chips. Some of the best I’ve ever had! So yum! Quaint casual place, not fancy at all but clean and tidy. Great location on the water. Only thing that could have been better was the girl who takes the orders was very...rude and not polite.More

Excellent Fish and chips. I live in Reykjavik and often buy from them. It's the only place in Reykjavik that does fish and chips properly, with always fresh ingredients and they cook the food as you order. I mean it hasn't been sitting there getting...old under a heater. Also, they do proper chips. I've tried other places and they all seem to be stuck on doing skinny fries instead of chips.More

Ever since I had Fish & Chips in London about 10 years ago...I started craving for it and when I had the chance to visit London again (to board cruise ship that starts in Southhampton)...that craving was satisfied! However...at the end of our 11-day Scandanavian...cruise (that ends in Iceland) ...we chanced on this small Fish & Chips vendor near our hotel in Reykjavik...and wow...in my opinion, this is my new favorite Fish & Chips!...Not from UK but from Iceland! The cod fish is very white and clean... thickness was just right (around maybe an inch)...the taste of the batter does not battle with the fish. The chips were long and cleanly cut & fried. Arnie (the owner) (who we chanced on meeting) explained that salt and other condiments will need to be sprinkled/dipped by yourself to suit ones taste...and I agree. I say ...great taste...great value ...and great eating experience (considering also eating in picnic table) (and we chanced on great weather as well). I will be craving for this kind of Fish & Chips (sorry London)...More

We had read this was a great place for quick dinner. Fish and Chips Vagninn easily surpassed expectations. The Cod were some of the best tasting and largest portion sizes we had on the vacation. It had one very large fried piece with a lot...of fries. This was made to order so was fresh. The pricing for the side tarter sauce and Coke soda pop was very reasonable compared to others. The server was very friendly and helpful, and they concentrate on a food wagon with limited menu prepared VERY well as people know to come for this fish. This is close to the wharf towards the end of the busline. So either a longer walk from the main part of downtown or take bus 14 and one of the final bustops is only a 2 block walk. You can combine this with a Maritime museum and Omnomchocolate factory store visit for a fun few hours. Would very gladly return on a next vacation.More

We stopped for a quick lunch at this small trailer by the Old Harbor. It was the best fish and chips in Reykjavik! They serve a nice size piece of cod battered lightly cooked to perfection. They had picnic tables to sit at while eating....The place is very clean and the harbor view us nice. If you just want a quick meal while exploring the Old Harbor this is a nice spot. We walked here after visiting Fly Over Iceland, but there is a public parking area right there.More

Had heard of this food truck in some vlogs and was in the area on our last day during lunch time (Saturday) and the line for Seabaron was too long. Saw the sign from the main road and turned into the parking lot to grab...some of their fish-n-chips. The red truck was nowhere to be found. Looked around for a few minutes, then moved along. If you can't be in the location on a Saturday during lunch hour, and no sign left behind indicating where you've gone... I can find lunch someplace else. Disappointing. Added this review to let others know that you'll want a Plan B if you are thinking about this place.More

After reading so many good reviews we had to try for ourselves. We visited the Maritime Museum and called in to the wagon on our way back in to town, it was a pleasant evening so we sat outside on the benches and ate there....The fish was superb, white and flaky, but as others have said there was no real taste in the batter.. although it was lovely and crisp. The chips.. a little bit disappointing to tell the truth, they didn't seem like proper chippy chips, not sure what it was about them but they weren't as good as at home. As others have said, there are plenty of places to get fish & chips in Reykjavik, but if you are in the area it's worth a try.More

This got a lot of attention because it made the Fodor’s book. It’s a food truck…really, a food trailer…down near the harbor. If the weather is nice, you can sit out on picnic tables. If the weather is bad, then you’re on your own. No...bathroom facilities. Service was rather curt. The food was ok…lots of places make good fish and chips.More

A little take away food trailer right at the harbor. There are a few picnic tables but not enough to serve the many customers. They were very busy, and when we first arrived there was only one person working. After ordering, the food arrived 20...minutes later. But it was fresh, hot, and delicious. They need staff. We would definitely return.More

We were looking forward to trying this fish. It was cooked spectacularly, but had little flavor. There are several sauces to choose from, but cost extra.
