We are so pleased that we chose to have a light lunch at Solon. We were cold, wet and quite hungry and found their soups absolutely delicious and filling. The staff were warm, welcoming, friendly and great fun. We took advantage of their happy hour wine offer and found ourselves in charming company! After our visit we needed to get in touch from the UK to ask for help with a receipt. They were very helpful and provided the information we needed without delay. Their customer service throughout our experience was superb! We would definitely recommend Solon for its service, food, location and value for money.

My wife and I arrived between 6:00 and 6:30 PM on a Thursday. We were a little surprised that we were the only customers, but the restaurant filled up quickly. The waitress said they recently had renovated and it looked like it. The restaurant was very nice. It was a nice atmosphere and we could carry on a conversation easily. The food was cooked well and seasoned to compliment the food. I had skirt steak that was tender and my wife had fish. Don’t know if it was intentional, but the croutons on my salad looks like lava rocks. They were not hard and were very tasty-went well with the steak. Would recommend Solon especially to visitors who may be a bit weary and looking for good food and a quiet atmosphere.

First day in Reykjavík and walked passed this restaurant. It was busy at the time but easily booked a table for 2 an hour ahead. Were sat instantly on arrival, inside looks fantastic and has quality tables and comfortable seating. Complimentary water was placed on the table and we went for the steak burger and schnitzel along with the dinner time lager offer as well. Both meals were very tasty and I'd recommend for anyone to come.

Handy restaurant on the corner of Bankastræti so right in the middle of everything. I went here for a very late lunch/early dinner. A popular place and it was quite busy probably due to the fact that their lunch hour menu service goes on till 1700 and their drinks happy hour till 1800. I lucked out with my timing and was served quickly by the friendly attentive staff. Great quality food I enjoyed my steak burger and beer.

This is our first time visiting Reykjavik and stroll along the pedestrian only streets shopping and stopped at this restaurant. We were greeted with smile from our friendly hostess. We seated in a banquet and we ordered our lunch special fish and chips with cauliflower soup. The soup was extremely tasty delicious with roasted garlic and drizzle with garlic oil serve with a toasted bread. The soup has a big flavor and hint of cumin. The fish and chips was tender delicious cod fish accompanied by French fries. The tartar sauce was herby and subtle. The serving was large and extremely generous. We highly recommend this awesome restaurant in heart of Reykjavik.

Best fish meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant. We chose the fish of the day which was Ling. I have never had or heard of this fish before. It was prepared with a mixture of vegetables, rice, and a sauce to die for. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes, which they called buttered potatoes. They were also outstanding. Large portions too! The service, the ambience and the food is top-notch.

Great dinner at Solon while visiting Reykjavik on October 16. We just dropped in (early) and they were very accommodating. We both had the 3-course dinner comprised of a shellfish soup, we then selected the Arctic Char, and with a mousse. The Char was superbly prepared and presented. A wonderful experience overall.

We were here in the middle of September and we loved this restaurant. We went back a whopping 3 times ! Staff were lovely and kind ,our server Natalia was very helpful and the food was hot and fresh. We had fish and chips X2 and vegetables. Price for the food was reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area, it was around €79. Obviously do bear in mind if you’re travelling to Iceland these prices are average wherever you go, as the cost of living is very high. I’d go back here if I was travelling again

We were very disappointed in this place. We had booked a table by coming in on Wednesday for this Friday, 7pm. When we arrived, they had no record of our booking, but they found us a table. We had chosen this restaurant because they serve lamb shanks, but we were told they had run out of these as well as the beef. By 7pm on a Friday evening! So we left to find somewhere else to eat.

Dear Michaelodin Thank you for your review. We are very sorry for your experience. Both regarding the booking and the food. I don´t know what happened regrading the booking - we get hundreds of booking each week and have so far not missed them before. But - fortunately - the matter was solved on site. Sorry about that. Regarding the food - we have a large selection of choices in our menu and we use tens of different indigents. Sometimes our suppliers can´t deliver all that we need and/or we run out of things during the day. That can happen in restaurants. And - we prep for each day based on expected customers and what they usually choose to order on average. On Friday - we had a lot of people going for the lamb shank and we ran out of them too early unfortunately. And since we slow-cook the lamb shanks overnight it takes time to prepare new ones. So - there is not much we can do when these things happen - and fortunately they seldom do. If possible - I would really like to try to make this bad experience up for you - free of charge of course. You can contact me through tj@solon.is or call my mobile - +354-862-0052 Regards, Thorir Johannsson Owner

I ate there with my daughter for lunch. She ordered the breakfast special and I ordered the chicken schnitzel. She thought hers was good and filling. Her favorite part was the pickled tomatoes. My chicken was delicious; crunchy and very tasty on a bed of mashed potatoes with sauce. Would eat there again.

Good place in the centre of reykjavik in front of rainbow Street. I have not been really happy about food....not typical Icelandic food....fish was medium level and meat was not really soft. I hope better in the next time.

We went to this restaurant and both tried the battered fish and chips. (It was Friday). The fish was cooked beautifully and I have never seen fish so white and chunky. Would recommend this restaurant as it also had a great atmosphere.

Visited without a reservation and could sit nonetheless. Everybody was very kind to us and we got our food fairly quickly. We hd the baked cheese (definitely a shareable food), fish and chips (we had better but we had worse than this) and the fish of the day (ling) and that came with a nice parmesan rizotto. As a dessert we ordered cheesecake but it was a bit of a letdown. It’s basically a bowl of yogurt with some toppings so don’t expect too much from it.
