Grillið has been running since the 60's. The food served is michelin star quality - Traditionnal french techniques are used on icelandic products resulting into exquisite dishes. As the restaurant is not in the city center, it is not as crowded. Service is excellent, all dishes are presented. Gisli, the sommelier, is very helpful and enthousiastic. Views from the dining... We organised a wedding dinner for 96 people in Grillið for our family from France and friends. Everything was perfect. Fantastic wine selection and one of the best chiefs in town. I reccomend this place for weddings, anniverseries and buisness meals. The view is stunning !

The menu was excellent, the wine list extensive and high class, the view over Reykjavik superb and the staff and cuisine unsurpassable.

Elísa, Hekla, Lúðvík, the chefs and the rest of the crew made this the most memorable dinner there ever was. Had the 4 course menu with wine tasting to every course and absolutely fantastic.

To celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary we had a wonderful 4 course menu with wine at Grillið. Service impeccable, greeted by name with congratulations, very nice champagne and amuse bouche. Icelandic speciality cheese, sausage ham and tasty pepper sauce. Followed by soft boiled duck egg with well seasoned potato flake. First course was organic cherry tomatoes and gazpacho sorbet with... Provided your taste is catholic then the tasting menu is likely to be good ( see Sharrow Bay Ullswater, Etnik Tirana et al). The seven course menu was exceptional and the accompanying wines and one light beer excellent. Check out the menu yourself but the langoustine( see my inexpert photo below) and accompanying Pouilly Fuisse brilliant just to pick out... More

Went twice during my trip. They only serve 4 or 7 course tasting menus, or a la carte with the same dishes. For large groups (~25-30), they'll serve a slightly altered menu. - Three-wall panorama of city - Top notch service - Delicious and well-presented courses - High price to match
