Traditional Icelandic food with a new interpretation, that’s exactly what we got. Also with a great service in a very original location. The halibut soup is fantastic and the fish very fresh and tasty.
This place is amazing, super cool inside and with a lively atmosphere, you can come even later then usual time.
I had the classical fish Menue, COD’s head, a speciality was delicious. Cocktails are also with a surprising twist.

We loved the meal at Matur & Drykkur. Old icelandic meals in a new modern expression. Very high standard at a reasonable prise. The cod's head was marvelous and an absolute must in this restaurant. Kind service as well

We got a five course dinner and everything was just above expectations. Great food, great service and very nice surroundings. The interior is raw, basic yet historical and informative. Highly recommend.

This place was cosy and ambient with an air of fine dining. Incredibly professional and helpful staff greeted us and offered prompt service. My boyfriend and I chose the seafood tasting menu, as it boasted local Arctic char and their signature of halibut soup. All...More
Our hotel recommended Matur Og Drykkur for dinner in Reykjavik because 'that is where the locals go.' I have posted a picture of the Ling special that evening prepared by Chef Richard Gerwain. The picture does not do justice nor can it reflect the sensational...More
