If you want to enjoy gourmet French cuisine with a Nordic touch and excellent service, then The Lobsterhouse is the right place for you. The restaurant was established in 1992 and has been a favorite with many locals since then. Our langoustine, Icelandic lobster, is widely known for it’s great taste and one of our most favorable dishes. Dining at The Lobsterhouse is an experience full of warmth and history. The Lobsterhouse seats over seventy people and has banquet rooms available for smaller groups. The building dates back to 1838 and is rich of history, the interior of the restaurant is old fashioned to compliment the style of the house and its heritage.

My husband and I went to the Lobsterhouse for the Surf & Turf menu with wine. What a unique and delicious experience! We were thrilled with every course and the selected wine that complimented the food perfectly. The waiter was very kind and eagerly enlightened...us about the food and wine, that we were enjoying. He shared his knowledge with a dash of humour, which was very entertaining. The chef also came to chat with us about the food and the Lobsterhouse. A very kind man. He really know his trade. What a delicious dinner, he made for us! We are thrilled with our experience in the Lobsterhouse and highly recommend the place. Thank you!More

We've eaten at most of the good restaurants in Reykjavik, and this is definitely one of the best! Every course was absolutely delicious and well presented, and the waiting staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience was perfect; several smaller rooms with a warm...and cozy atmosphere, rather than just one big room. We expected the langoustine to be excellent, and it was, but even the tenderloin in the surf and turf was superb. One of the bread offerings was a beer bread of some kind, which was delicious. All in all, this is one of the best meals we've had while living in Reykjavik.More

Going for the surf and turf menu was certainly a great experience. Traditional dinner, but very good taste and good wines. Service was very friendly and the online booking was super easy too. Keep it up! A great experience

Gourmet fish and shellfish restaurant. All dishes was simply fabulous with good wine selection. Paintings and furnitures in old style. Perfect service from very proff staff. Not cheap but an excellent experience.

The Lobsterhouse is a upmarket mainly a fish restaurant, although they also do serve meat dishes. The fish soup was good the cod dish was great and the lobster was smashing. We arrived late and the staff where kind enough to still keep a table...and feed us. RecommendedMore

My friend and I were excited to have our first meal in Iceland. We had seen ads for the restaurant at the airport and tourist brochures. We both love lobster. The restaurant opened at 5pm, and we arrived at 5:07. There was one table occupied...by a small group. The only waiter there met us at the front door and hung up our coats, but never addressed us, like "a table for two"? No smile, no friendliness, but rather made us feel unwelcome. We couldn't figure out if it's how we looked or that we had no reservation. Or that we were Americans. I had a lobster/scallop dinner and my friend had surf and turf - there were 5 slices of beef on some turnips or other vegetable. The lobster had been removed from the shell in the kitchen and there were literally TWO bites. The prosecco with Crowberry liquor (like a small blackberry) was delish but we were never offered a second glass). A second water showed up around an hour later and she was pleasant. Our first course, a beet salad, was served to us at 6:30pm. More patrons filtered in but it was never very full. We mentioned to the waiter that it took 1.5 hours to get the salad. When we received our bill, we were not charged for the drinks (two each), and our bill was still $75 a person. I would have accepted that if there was a decent amount of food. We both left still hungry and not very happy with this restaurant! Just not worth the high prices. When we received our travel documents from the tour company, there was a section about Iceland's tourism growth, and to exercise much patience. Unfortunately, we experienced similar indifference and unfriendly folks - taxi drivers, transportation folks, and in other restaurants. Iceland is such an experience, and I would like to return in warmer weather - just hope they figure out how to treat tourists in the future.More

Looking for a nice seafood dinner in Reykjavik we decided to visit The Lobsterhouse. It is conveniently located downtown Reykjavik in what seems to be more of a cosy villa than a restaurant. The views, candles and art made for a great atmosphere. The service...was impeccable, but the real reason to come here is for its food. We had their langoustine special and it was fresh, tasty and super good! The recommended white wine pairing was perfect too. It is well worth a visit. We will definitely come back next time we're in Reykjavik.More
