A spacious, tastefully decorated restaurant in the heart of the city center. To be honest, I forgot what I had here (a large open-faced sandwich with either shrimp or salmon), but it was delicious. And best of all, I was the only tourist there -...More

We walked in without a reservation, and were told the tables were all booked up until after Christmas, but we could sit at the bar. And the place was packed! A lively, friendly place, looked mostly like locals, and really had a nice vibe. We...More

Jomfruin is an old-schooled kind of eatery in trendy Reykjavik. But on a sunny day, you can get a tan sitting on the sidewalk, and it reminds me of Paris in the summer, though the view of course is not the same. The sidewalk can...More

Popped in while, walking down the street and decided to have a beer. Looked at menu and watched food leaving the kitchen. We defiantly will go back for lunch another day before we leave this beautiful city.

Had dinner at this Scandinavian restaurant. Big space and nice ambient with friendly staff. Ordered two half’s of smoked salmon and Italian ham special. Food serving is rather fast and presentation is great. Pricing is above average among restaurant in town area, but worth it!

Came here twice during my visit to Iceland, it was that good. The restaurant is big and perfect if you’re there with friends. Service is also friendly and fast. The food is out of this world! I had the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and...More

We stopped in for a late lunch. Perhaps our taste preferences but we found the food okay, the service non existent and the prices expensive. We had 1/2 orders and lunch for three was $70.

We were about to try one of the many pasta/pizza restaurants in downtown area but I knew of this Danish style restaurant and we found it easily. Going down the hill towards the old harbour you see the Hard Rock Café - it is a...More

The food here is divine. Yes eating out in Reykjavik is expensive however I don't mind if a place presents value. We ordered mostly fish samples and they all came at once on a platter. Everything was so good! Quality and quantity were excellent. You...More

We stumbled into this restaurant looking for a bite and were surprised at how quickly it filled up (don't know if most folks were there after church). Anyway, it was our first taste of Danish food - I ordered the Ham Special and my husband,...More

Welcome to Jómfrúin, the home of Danish smørrebrød in Iceland. It all began in 1888 with Oscars Davidsen’s highly praised smørrebrød restaurant in Copenhagen. Today, in Reykjavík, "Jómfrúin" stands for the best in Danish smørrebrød. An unbroken tradition of quality and Danish culinary culture for the past 100 years. Essentially an open-faced sandwich usually featuring rye sourdough bread, smørrebrød presents different combinations of seafood, meat, vegetables and condiments, and is typically enjoyed with a cold local beer and snaps (aquavit). Enjoy!
