It's average, just like many other good gelato places. And the closes location to downtown/city center is near the harbor, which is northwest side of the city. If you are in the famous church of Hallgrímskirkja, it will take you at least 20-30 minutes to...More

We went while walking around Old Harbor...less than a 15min walk from the city center and the ice cream was great! Huge scoops and lots of flavors. We sampled the strawberry, rum-coconut, and mango! Like everywhere in Iceland, the ladies behind the counter spoke English...More

We stopped by Valdis, located in the Old Port area of Reykjavik, after our visit to the Omnom Chocolate Factory. It was on the way back to the main part of the city so we stopped in for a mid-afternoon treat. My sister must’ve tried...More

Authentic gelato in a small Iceland parlor off the beaten path, i guess this is par for the course for an island that keeps surprising me. Excellent ice-cream, including some unique local flavors ("Danish licorice", anyone?). Popular with local teenagers, even when it's cold.

Lots of flavours to choose from, great busy ice cream parlour by the waterfront, go where the locals go.

Excellent gelato near the harbor - lots of flavor choices. Impeccable texture and flavor. Looked like lots of locals were visiting as well as tourists.

Find this gelato bar while walking around, and the display looked amazing. I picked the salted peanut and a raspberry ice cream. The flavours were amazing, really worth the money. If I had been staying longer I would have gone back to try some of...More

Try the coconut caramel (bites knuckle thinking of this flavor...). Chocolate is tasty. Didn't try the salted licorice but that's maybe the quintessential Scandinavian flavor, if you're into salmiak.

When in Reykjavik don't miss to pay Valdis a visit! There are so many common and extraordinary tastes to chose from - you have to visit twice or much better even more often to get an impression of their art of ice cream making.
