Excellent coffee and snacks. The waffles are fabulous. This place is always busy and that tells you all you need to know. It has a really cosy atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you want a light bite or a bit of breakfast go here, you’ll not be disappointed.

Cannot fault this cosy rustic coffee shop, the cakes and breakfast waffles with bacon are incredible. The grilled sandwiches are delicious (yes grilled not toasted so don’t complain if the bread is a little charred it is supposed to be!!!!). The staff are very friendly and approachable and is recommend this cafe to anyone. There is also seating upstairs which I don’t think everyone realises and they probably lose a lot of customers due to this.

Stopped here a number of times for coffee and waffles. Friendly staff, coffee was lovely and the waffles (we chose with chocolate and cream, other options also available) were great. Well located for a quick rest while walking around town and with a nice atmosphere. We overheard the guy making coffee ask some customers to challenge him to a coffee design on the froth and he managed to impress them.

Well located coffee house on Laugavegur. We visited later in the evening and found it was very tight and seating limited. Upstairs was hot and we had to move outside to the patio aera. We were asked to move by staff after setting down all our food and drinks because they had to limit the size of the patio after a certain time. We had nowhere else to sit. Tables were wobbly, seating outdoor was tight. Waited for a small table to become available and it was not clean. The selection of cakes was limited and staff looked young and uninterested in customer service. Prices were relatively expensive to other cafes. No staff cared. We returned to Babalu instead a couple of other times, where it was quieter and cleaner.

There was something for everyone-prosecco, waffles, ham and cheese sandwiches, juice, coffee, croissants, local donuts. Service was good, even when it was crowded. We went each day when we wanted a snack or lunch. We will return on our next trip!

Found this spot our last evening in Reykjavich and so wish we’d found it sooner. We had decaf espresso drinks, which were outstanding (fanciest mocha I think I’ve ever had) and shared a piece of fantastic chocolate layer cake served with whipped cream on the side. The atmosphere was very warm and cozy with plenty of space. There were games available and we ended up playing Backgammon. It wasn’t far from our hotel and I could easily have seen spending other evenings here if we’d found it earlier!

This was recommended to us by a local for the quality of their coffee - the Icelandic people seem to love and know their coffee! It was cosy and busy with a mix of different people - tourists, locals, business- types etc. we ordered toasties and mine (spicy tuna) was divine. All toasties came with a packet of crisps which was a nice addition. We also couldn’t resist a slice of the carrot cake which was superb. Reasonable price. We’d deffo go back

My friend isn't a breakfast eater, so I came here solo on two mornings while she was getting ready. Casual cafe with plenty of breakfast options and good coffee. Looking to fuel up before a hike, I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel, with no expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. It was topped with a cream cheese-like spread which I enjoyed greatly. The dairy in Iceland is exceptional.

Went here for hot chocolates after a day out at the golden circle and glacier snowmobile ride. Nice cosy atmosphere, service good and staff very welcoming. Hot chocolates went down a storm - just what we needed!

There is a reason this coffeehouse has been around for quite some time. You have everything with the cozy atmosphere, perfect cappuccino, workspace upstairs, friendly staff. I could go on and on. Hands down our favorite cafe and this time of year they make an incredible glass of mulled wine.

Had a toasted sandwich freshly made and served with a bag of crisps. Tea and hot chocolate were lovely. If you are looking for a freshly made quick eats give this place a visit. Very reasonable priced.

This was a fantastic find, we stopped for a quick lunch of ham and cheese toasties, beef, cheese and horseradish toasties and smoked salmon, cream cheese and caper bagel. Washed down with a gull larger. Lovely atmosphere with candles on the table, cosy decor and the food was unbelievably good! I would highly recommend.

Amazing find! You're spoiled for choice for cafes in Reykjavik, but this one appealed as it was a) busy, b) right in the middle of one of the main shopping streets, and c) 'Icelandic looking' from the outside! We had club sandwiches, which were of ludicrous proportions (one would have easily done the job for two adults) and very very tasty. Beers and wines are on offer too, not just coffee, and the atmosphere is bustly but laid back. Great place!

My husband and I were on our way to a museum and wanted to make a quick stop. My husband grabbed a beer and I grabbed a coffee. Both were excellent. The place was very busy with really only one spot available even though it was a Tuesday afternoon. They have a happy hour later on in the day that we intended to come back for, but never made it. The staff was friendly as well.

Stumbled upon this cafe for coffee and lunch one afternoon and wish we found it sooner! Delicious coffee and amazing grilled sandwiches! I’d recommend the spicy tuna and club sandwiches, both were so tasty and very filling! Would recommend to anyone visiting Reykjavik to come here!
