A five story concrete building that once housed offices on the upper floors and a metalwork company on the ground floor, now is the home of restaurant The Steakhouse on the ground floor, the four floors above are now apartments. The old harbor area of Reykjavik has in the last couple of years, changed in to a real gem where various cuisines, museums and arts and crafts have replaced the metalworks and fisheries. The newest addition is STEIKHÚSIÐ, which simply means „The Steak House”. The name is a deliberately this simple and descriptive, the aim is to be the only steakhouse you think of after the first visit. The heart of Steikhúsið is the coal oven from Mibrasa and the soul is our own way

If you are visiting Iceland, you probably have some money to spend. Nowhere better to spend it then here! Perfection on each and every beautiful plate, for (relatively) quite reasonable prices. Apart from the famous Icelandic lamb and fish dishes, this restaurant offers a broad...selection of meats (including delicious deer and even Icelandic horse). Our waiter Jón deserves a special mention; he provided us with excellent service and advice where needed and did an amazing job (and seemingly effortless) at making us feel at home. It made the overall experience quite memorable, in the best of ways.More

When I came here I had the Tuna Ceviche! That was literally one of the best things I have ever eaten hands down. Then, for the second course I was brought Lamb. When I say there is nothing like the food served here, I mean...this. My friend got the cod. While I loved the lamb, I wish I could have gotten both! Every taste of food I had here was perfect, delicious, and over the top outstanding.More

Excellent dinner, perfectly prepared. Was very happy to see fish on the menu as I wanted something lighter. Steak was amazing, too. Waiter was especially charming, friendly, and professional and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Nice ambiance and appreciated that they wore masks. In a...very expensive city for dining out this is a good deal with a 2 course dinner for about $40. Highly recommend!More

Food was horrible, overpriced, and the restaurant was very reluctant to let me use the discount coupon I had ... :(

Been there twice and both times exceeded my expectations. This restaurant is a must visit when you're in Reykjavik and it's absolutely the first restaurant I'll visit again when I'm in Reykjavik again.

The restaurant located near the old habour is pretty well decorated with bar and also has beef dry aged fridge. The service is top notch. The whale tartar and short ribs are tasty and full of flavours. Slightly on salty side. The Tomahawk Angus steak...is done to perfection, tender, juicy and yummy. 4.5 Star for me.More

Visited here during our stay in Iceland and I had the Ribeye which was the best steak I have ever eaten in my life, I chose a baked potato side but my husband had the dry aged ribeye with triple dipped chips which was equally...good. Dessert was a white chocolate creme brûlée and it was lovely. Service was excellent and we would highly recommend this restaurant.More
