What a find. We had just 6 hours in Rejkavik after touring other areas of Iceland. We were strolling back from the old harbor at around 6.00 p.m. and came across this little bar and restaurant. The atmosphere and decor looked good, and the menu...More

Had the Smokey bay menu. Everything was amazing. The hot smoked salmon was mouth watering. The carpaccio superb and the lamb succulent. 2 different cuts. The creme brulee was excellent. Really pleased with the whole meal. Service was very good too. Highly highly recommended. Very...More

My wife and I had the 4 course set Seafood dinner. Started with a delicious lobster soup, followed by Artic char and sea scallops, horse with a Bearnaise sauce, and ended with chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. The food was perfectly cooked and the...More

Not the cheapest place you'll go in Reykjavik but one of the tastiest meals you'll have. Forettabarinn specialises in small, tasty dishes (foretta = entree). The combinations of taste are different to many you'll have elsewhere.

If you're really hungry, I'd recommend their set menus. We weren't sure how much food they would be and we weren't terribly hungry. However, the table next to ours ordered 2 set menus and it was a good amount of really great looking food. We...More

The food is excellent - probably the best we had in Iceland and we did go to other nice restaurants. Prices expensive for the United States but moderate for Iceland (the four course price fix helped). The service was not the best but the atmosphere...More
