We arrived there at 21:40, they took us in, asked for what we wanted to drink, set the table for dinner (cutlery and napkins). And then at 21:50 with the drinks served, they told us that the kitchen closed at 22:00 and that we could...not order anymore. The waiter was hostile and rude. The only bad experience we had from a 2-week trip in Iceland. The rest of the people we met were amicable and really nice.More

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. I had the lobster soup and the Cajun Style burger and BBQ pork. Both of which were very tasty! My wife had the Chicken Quesadilla which she loved. I would also like to try the Smoked...Duck but that will have to be on the next trip to Iceland...More

My wife and a couple of friends tried this place out for dinner. What a great find. My wife and friend got the vegan set menu, everything looked so good I was jealous. I had some of the butternut squash soup in that menu, wow,...so many flavors. I then had the lamb entree, so tender and flavorful as well. The ambience is really good too. Highly recommended.More

What a fantastic place! As my husband said, “this could be my dream pub.” Forettabarin is relaxed, light, airy and welcoming. It’s informal with sports playing quietly on screens above the bar. The staff are friendly, helpful and down to earth. But then the food...comes out! It’s really, really outstanding and highly creative and beautifully made. Every dish was delicious - even the kids’ veggie burger was homemade and declared “the best ever” by one of our children. The desserts were a particular highlight. Thank you for a fantastic evening.More

Good food with reasonable price (for Icelnad) with the menu. The flagship was the lamb, really tasty e perfectly cooked, all the rest pretty good without excellence. The place is warm and have a very good bar to prolong the dinner.

We had reservations at another restaurant however we arrived early and the restaurant wasn't ready for us. We were asked to come back in 30 minutes. We walked down the street for a cocktail and happened upon this restaurant. Initially were still going to the...other restaurant however after looking at the menu and seeing the plates at different tables, we elected to stay here. My husband and I both elected the have the four course meal - unsure of the meal name. It came the most moisture in a quesodila I have ever had. The salsa in it is fantastic. The artic Char is on point with creamy barley was delicious. Lastly the sky mousse with fresh berries as desert. Impeccable service. Our waiter checked with us to see if we were ready for our next course before having it prepared. This is a must visit restaurant in our opinion.More

Fantastic night I had with friends. We watched football on the bar side and they have all the best Icelandic beer on draft. I only drink red wine and they gave me very good choice on the red. Horse meet and the lamb chops as...a main and the lobster soup as a starter. Fantastic nightMore

Forréttabarinn is now one of my favorite restaurants in Reykjavík. The service is great, the food is fresh and perfectly prepared, and the atmosphere is casual. While you can enjoy an upscale menu, you can also watch football games at the same time. We will...definitely be coming back the next time we're in Iceland.More

Excellent food, good service, great atmosphere. The cocktail of the month was excellent as were the mock tails (Ginger drink). We had lamb, Char, Mussels and each was super. Portions are good , prices appropriate for Iceland (each mains was 3050). Highly recommended.

We chose this restaurant after walking away from a couple of others because the others had whale meat on their menu and as tourists the best thing you can do is not support the whaling industry and make sure your money goes to places that...don’t serve whale. Anyway, we were so happy with our choice, this was our favourite meal in Iceland. We had a set menu which was incredibly good value for money by Reykjavik standards. The service was friendly and efficient and the waitress let my picky husband swap out a dish on the set menu! The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming and we also noticed quite a few locals eating there - which is always a good sign!! Every single dish was delicious and generous. It was fresh Icelandic ingredients and local cuisine done in quite a modern style. The fish dish (ling) was particularly delicious. They also had quite a broad menu with plenty range of vegan dishes. Definitely highly recommended!More

Such incredible food — favourite meal of our trip! Hot smoked salmon and Arctic char main were *chefs kiss*! Came here 3.5 years ago and just came back, so happy it’s still just as amazing as we remembered it being. Great atmosphere and friendly staff...too!More

Five of us out for an authentic Icelandic meal, and we certainly were not disappointed. Lovely restaurant with wonderful staff delivery excellent service. Literally nothing was too much trouble. The meal, all four courses, were absolutely delicious, and the little taster we all tried of...horse was smashing. Obviously we had been told earlier in the day that they only eat the evil, naughty horses. We had a great City Break in Iceland and will be back to both Iceland and this restaurant.More

We had two of the four course tasting menus - both were absolutely sublime. Best food we had in Iceland, the cod (fish of the day), beef carpaccio and duck were definite highlights, but it was all incredibly tasty. Really lovely atmosphere too, service was...friendly and efficient, relaxed and romantic in the restaurant. 10/10More
