Lauga-as was recommended to me by the woman at the front desk of my hotel, as it was in walking distance. I had a very delicious fish dinner. It included soup, but as the soup wasn't one I was interested in, they gave me a lovely salad instead. The service was pleasant, the food tasty and not terribly expensive (in what is an expensive city!), and recommend it.

We went there on our last night in Iceland and had the Seafood pasta and the
Au gratin fish with fries. The meals came with bread and soup are were both delicious and very filling! The cost was approximately $54 USD. Because food is so expensive in Iceland it was nice to actually be full when we walked out!

We came as this small local restaurant was highly recommended. It had an extensive listing of set menus but we chose ala carte to experience the fish soup and the weiner schnitzel. Generous portions, with lots of veggies & small salads included. Very expensive though, but we found that most places in Iceland.

Recommended by front desk hotel person. Within walking distance of Hotel Cabin. I had the best fish dish (stuffed plaice). My husband had fish and chips (tempura fried cod) and loved it. Complimentary carrot ginger soup was outstanding. Warmed date cake for dessert. Generous portions. We highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Iceland.

Nice place for those who eat meat and fish. But there is only one vegan option, a simple salad, and one vegetarian pasta dish (with cream sauce). A shame they don't offer a decent alternative for vegan visitors.

I was staying in the hostel across the street and found here a nice dinner. Service was fast and polite. I enjoyed the fish gratin very much.

Very very good, I’ll recommend it any day. The food is great, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and you get it well at a fair price - what’s not to like.

This restaurant was recommended to us and did not disappoint. Very charming inside with gingham red and white curtains. The beautiful tables with tiles are original from when the restaurant first opened in 1978. All meals came with a soup of the day. I asked for the lobster soup and it was delicious. My fried salted cod was done to perfection. The staff were extremely friendly. The least expensive meal I had while in Iceland.

We had checked into our ship at Skarfabakki and our son was staying at the Hilton. This was a half way point between the two. (25 minute walk). The restaurant is not large. We did get a table and menus right away. Took awhile for the waitress to come back for drink orders and food order. I had their grilled lobster that came with soup, salad, etc. Nicely cooked and served with melted butter. My husband tried a lamb dish which he said was fine. Our son had a burger plate. Once food order was placed, it came out fairly quickly.

Price-power ratio was not good. the food was embarrassing. but the curtains looked nice and the coke was good. wine also not nearly as good as the coke. Better cook yourself...

Laug-As was suggested to me for my motorcycle tour group of 10 people for our 'Welcome Dinner'. With a great reputation for excellent food, I wanted the group to experience more than just one entrée. Chef Johann and the owner accommodated us perfectly. Guests tried things they probably never would have if not for the Family-style method of being served. So the lamb, the Beef, the Fish were all fantastic... and the special desert was also a topper.

This is the classic go-to spot by locals. It’s just outside of the downtown area, which explains the reasonable prices and the fact that it has been there forever. They have old-fashioned dishes which are nice, although the quality of their complementary soup could be better.

Been coming here since I was 6 years old. For fourty years😀 I always have Laugaás special, fish gratin. 10/10👌 I don´t know the secret to their sauce on this fish but it`s the best. Combination of bernaise and mushroom sauce of somekind. They haven´t change a thing over this years and I tell you, it`s working. There are few, actually very few restaurants in Iceland that are still in business that long. So that should tell you something. The same restaurant owner also. It`s homy and cosy and the price is reasonable. Rush our during lunchpacked with icelandairs who know where to get their solid good food.

One of my favorite restaurant in Reykjavík. If I want to treat my family, I go to Laugaás. Old fashioned and very tasty Icelandic restaurant food.
