I was in Reykjavik twice and the first time I visited, this cute cafe was closed. I was drawn to the bright orange color of the building facade and badly wanted to try it. I was so happy that it was open the second time...I visited the city. The cafe is quirky and eclectic with different forms of art decorating the walls, figurines, and other pieces. The service was excellent and the Skyr yogurt cake was good, as was the coffee. There were a lot of locals there too, which is a sign of it's popularity. There is seating upstairs and downstairs. There is an orange cat named Josie who may make an appearance as well!More

We ate here for dinner one night with our two kids. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the decor is fun and eclectic. We had the grilled cheese and fries and my son had the crepe and we all enjoyed our food. The...Skyr cake was delicious also. Be sure to check out the bathroom while you are there also. If you like kitties, there is an orange cat that likes to hang out at Cafe Babalu and she is the sweetest. She sat with us in a chair at our table while we ate our dinner.More

The cafe cat deserves a five star rating on its own. A bit weird, but a very charming place. Cosy and good coffee. Would recommend hopping in.

Top marks. Delightful atmosphere, really delicious brunch/ cafe food with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Friendly, English-speaking staff. We even had a visit from the local cat! 😻

Fun inside and out, this cafe also served the perfect food for us! Tomato soup with grilled cheese, and fries with grilled cheese - two specials that were filling and great value. The decor is fun and quirky - we loved it - and you...should definitely experience the toilet! Loved the skyr cheesecake too!More

The space is cozy and charming and the food was quite good. We went daily for our morning coffee and a pastry. The apple crumb cake is heavenly and the chai lattes are delish!

What a cute eccentric cafe! This place is great! I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup - different cheese than I am used to as an American - a welcome change! My husband got a crepe and tea. So many cool decorations and the...bathroom was really cool, haha! Definitely recommend this place, they had a wide selection of food and drink options and they staff was very friendly.More

Great quirky bar in centre of Reykjavik, a warm comfortable welcome from cold unpleasant weather. Visiting the toilets is a must 😁

One of the most warm welcomes in Reykjavik! Coffee was amazing, the food choices are limitless, even for people with alergies and intolerances. Highly recommended!

Situated on the main street just a 5 minute walk from the Hallgrímskirkja church this place cannot be missed due to its pale blue and bright orange exterior. If you think the outside is a bit eccentric, wait until you see the inside it's an...eclectic mix of postcards, currency, books and ornaments. Service is very laid back and we had to clear the dishes of the previous occupants we even had the cafes cat for company whilst we were In there. We only went for hot chocolate to warm us up on a bitterly cold day and the price was £10 for 2 cups about the going rate for Reykjavik.More

I stopped by Cafe Babalu twice during my stay in Reykjavik - once for lunch and once for a late night crepe and both meals were delicious! From the crepe to the grilled cheese to my hot chocolate, I was never disappointed. Prices were also...fairly reasonable for Reykjavik and being on the main tourist drag. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well looked after. I also appreciated that they had water available for all customers by the cash register and on the second floor. There's plenty of seating, though it does get busy later in the day and can be crowded if you're worried about social distancing. If you're there at a quieter time of day, you're welcome to take a seat and enjoy the free WiFi for a minute or two before heading out. The convenient location makes it the perfect place to stop for a quick bite to eat when you're out exploring the city.More

We saw this cute cafe whilst walking down the street and decided we had to check it out. A really comfy little stop in town. The food was out of this world. I had a carrot cake and my girlfriend had an out of body...experience with the Skyr cake - saying it was one of the best cakes she’d ever had. Strong recommend! Also there seems to be a resident cat which gets bonus points.More

You know you're going to have a good time when you walk in and there's paper money from all different nations hanging from the ceiling. Especially great for an afternoon pick-me-up, there are knick knacks everywhere to explore, extra comfy seating upstairs, and a Star...Wars themed bathroom. Also, the strongest coffee I've had in Iceland.More

The vibe here is the coolest and the staff are very friendly. We ate here several times since we had 4 teens and 2 kids in our group and we love the upstairs area to hangout and play games while the adults are finishing our...food. The kids really loved the hot chocolate, crepes, fries, and giant cookies. The adults really loved the grilled cheese, tomato soup, and coffee. Masks are required unless you're eating, which we appreciate. The music is eclectic and fun. Definitely a friendly, fun place to visit!More
