My 11-year-old daughter and I absolutely loved this place! The food was not only delicious but also healthy and uplifting. Every dish was beautifully prepared, and we could truly taste the quality and care that went into it. The atmosphere was so calming, and the staff were incredibly kind and peaceful, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was such a relief to step into this space and just relax. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great vegan restaurant!

everything about the environment was warm and welcoming from the time I arrived to the time that I left. I had Mama Curry, Dhal a la Mama, and a peanut butter raspberry jam cake, all of which I will be dreaming about for days! Truly delicious and, most importantly, tasted like it was made by people who care about nourishing, quality ingredients (Bodhi is incredible!)
not to mention the beautiful decor, thriving plants, warm colors, soothing music and spiritual reminders that filled the space and made it so cozy that I ended up staying for hours just to read on a couch
And finally, just as I left, I met part of the team that brought the beautiful place to life. They all genuinely reflected exactly what the environment and meals suggested- that you were in a place with people who were prioritizing their care for other humans by designing an experience that was both satisfying and nourishing to the senses and the soul. They truly seemed to be community focused, and I wish I could’ve spoken to them for hours!
so grateful that the single sit-down dining experience I had in Iceland was at this restaurant, and I’ll surely be back on my next trip.

Mama Reykjavík is outstanding when it comes to vegan cuisine. The staff present a wonderful combination of politeness, consideration and warmth. The food is always perfect! Lots of variety for any time of day. Their new venue in Bankastræti 2, is a bright and spacious one , offering a variety of seating choices. The food comes quickly on the table and because of the relaxed atmosphere, lots of guests work or play on their lap-tops while munching away on the delicious foods and treats. ( vegan cakes and a most inviting cellery-juice, to name but a few ) . The other day a little dog was having a look around the place and was welcomed by staff and guests alike. Whether solo or with friends, you are in for a heart-warming culinary delights :)

We ordered two soups and couldn’t give them even two tablespoons for the excess fat they contained. We asked for the bill, we had to find somewhere else to eat something. We are vegetarians and we seek balance also in the elaboration of food.

When you’re traveling with kids, it’s hard to find something that is healthy but filling, kid friendly but high quality, and delicious without being pretentious. Mama was amazing, and exceeded our expectations in every one of those ways. As we had read, it was a little tricky to find, since the entrance is down a dead end alley on the left, and then up some stairs to a loft. Be persistent and you will be rewarded.
In a city where many of the more renowned restaurants serve very small portions, we found ourselves so full we brought left overs back to our rental. My son is unbearably picky, but he loved the lentil chips and devoured the hummus. It was so nice to eat fresh vegetables, fresh sourdough bread, and incredibly delicious wraps and stews/curries. The sauces, particularly the chipotle sauce and the cilantro cashew cream, were incredibly delicious.
The service was very friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was calming and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. When I’m traveling to a new place, I like to try as many new things as possible, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be back because it was just that good!

After 4 days of eating and drinking we searched for a place to have a healthy wholesome lunch and we found it here. The bowls of food are presented beautifully with small accompaniments to celebrate the dish, we had chilli, African stew and the tahini hummus.
All fresh, with a bite of spice, delicious.

We came here as we were looking for vegan places to eat in Iceland and this was recommended - it certainly did not disappoint. The daal and soup we had were absolutely amazing. The restaurant/cafe is also really well-decorated and the view out of the windows was gorgeous. My only criticism is that the price was a little high for 'big soups' relative to what we paid for larger meals elsewhere in Reykjavik, and the menu was a little limited, but we still really enjoyed our visit and would recommend - the food was definitely really good!

Really lovely food. Service good . We are not vegan but vegetarian but we saw this place advertised and wanted to try it. The food was plentiful and tasty. It was very peaceful and had a nice atmosphere. We had a starter and a main but the chilli my daughter had and the chick pea one i had really filled us up so wished we skipped the starter as were stuffed!! Garlic nan bread was delicious. For the two courses, a matcha latte, and a red wine it came to £74 so pretty standard price for Iceland. Defo worth a visit!!

Iceland is not globally known for its vegan food (growing produce here has historically been challenging), but it has a surprising and very intentional vegetarian and vegan community. Mama Reykjavik is a charming 2nd floor attic restaurant with great light, great food, and great vibes. The kitchen is visible through tinted glass walls, and the eating area is a split level upper floor with one section that has a dining feel and one section that has a living room library parlor feel. The food was ample and delicious and vegan!

Worth the effort to find the somewhat hidden entrance to this amazing restaurant. You don't need a big menu if you do the food well, and that's exactly the case at Mama Reykjavik. I had the red lentil dhal which was delicious. From the first bite I knew I'd made a good decision. As with many places in Iceland the price feels high but it's great, healthy, yummy food and would absolutely go back again

We recently visited Mama and was pleasantly surprised by the zen atmosphere. The entire menu is plant-based, which was amazing! I tried the stew with rice, which had a perfect combination of lentils and nuts. It felt so heartwarming—exactly what I needed. The cozy ambiance made it feel more like I was dining in someone’s home rather than a restaurant. The personal touches and the warmth of the place really stood out. If you’re looking for delicious, comforting, plant-based dishes in a relaxed setting, I would definitely recommend this place!

This was such a delightful oasis to enjoy a late lunch and relax! My husband and I are gluten free and the menu is almost entirely gluten free! The food was so filling and comforting with wonderful flavors and textures! The staff was kind and welcoming and we enjoyed eating upstairs in a more quiet environment. I wish we would have found this place sooner, we would have gone more often!

Mama Reykjavik was last minute suggestion from an amazing singer Diana Sus, when I asked for a magic place for birthday dinner. And it was magic. My friend who birthday, loved the vibe, the food and the company! I think it is not just a restraint but a warm space with little bit magic vibes and great food. That evening the magic was created by Justina, who got out of now where a candle for birthday cake and Dominica that prepared the delicious food! They also stayed way longer than the opening time of the cafe! So thank you for hosting and welcoming us! P.s and advice to the managers- make sure your have an option that your team members can get tips , when payed with the card! I know that is not the custom in Iceland to leave tips, but sometimes one wants to express gratitude in terms of tips, as money is just another form of energy!

This is a lovely all vegan cafe in the centre of downtown Reykjavik. Considering the very expensive venues in this part of town I thought the food was reasonably priced. I had the Dahl ala Mama which was a beautifully spiced and hearty red lentil stew, as well as their signature blueberry and vanilla cheesecake (sheesecake). Both were delicious. A range of coffees are available along with a tea menu. The smoothie bowls sound amazing (I haven’t ruled out going back if I have time) and there are also salads, sandwiches and juices on the menu. This place has a very relaxed and casual vibe, I would definitely recommend you drop in. Oh and they also take bookings - I only know this as I overheard a member of staff taking a call about reserving a table.
