Quaint bar, great service. Fish pie was very good.
One knock, they completely blew the understanding of gluten free. They easily changed an order to a lobster salad, but the lobster had beer batter. Oops
I have been here 3 times over two trips in the past 4 years and will be happy to continue going back. The service is consistently friendly, and professional. Everything I've had on the menu is delicious (with the exception of the fermented shark, but...you should be aware of that going in). The drinks list has plenty of local options. And it's a place where Icelandic locals still seem to go. Of all the options you have available to you in downtown Reykjavik, Islenski Barinn should be at, or near, the top of your listMore
Crowded and cozy place, with really good food and service at good prices. So easy to understand it’s busy, book in advance!
Small and a little noisy, but in a nice way, you feel at home. Interesting variety of icelandic food, long list of Icelandic...alcohol (?) and most things you would like on the list. Feels very genuine and local, like most of the guests.More
This is a great pub and restaurant in downtown Reykjavík. We ate here for lunch and enjoyed a quiet and relaxed atmosphere during our meal, however it can get quite busy in the evenings. My partner and I ordered the lamb dog and the lobster...dog and shared a side of waffle fries. Both dogs were very tasty and well filled. The waffle fries were also good and a large portion. We would recommend this place!More
Has the look of a nice English pub when you first go in. The menu has some interesting choices, I tried the smoked lamb on homemade flat bread, really good. And the meat soup, Kjotsopa, very tasty with melt in the mouth lamb. I'll be...back to try further choices. And the service was pleasant.More
Just popped in for some fermented shark, as you have to try it. Full restaurant but they found space for us, such a great atmosphere wish we could have stayed for the whale and reindeer. Hopefully back later in the week!
