Looking for something other than Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts while browsing around Reykjavik? This place is lively, with chillout music, and an abundant choice of sweet and savoury snacks. The coffee is definitely artisanal, and the staff seems to be taking good pride in their...More

My friends and I visited Kaffitar and enjoyed the coffee and pastries. However, it is not a good place if you are in a hurry.

Just beside the intersection of Bankastraeti and Ingolfssraeti in the pedestrian area is a wonderful coffee shop. They have baked treats and a wide selection of coffee options. First place I have found vinetarta since I've been here. Wifi is also here. I'd recommend this...More

The coffee here is really good and the service friendly. The pastries are also great. Free water and filter coffee for those who want it. Like everything in Iceland 🇮🇸 it's expensive.

But could be hotter. We tried and tried to get someone to clean the filthy table. All of them were really dirty. They must have been busy and had no time. Had a nice sweet roll though.

The first thing that struck us about Kaffitar was the cozy ambiance and the smiling staff - great vibe and very homey decor. We had a Swiss Mocha, Cappuccino, Banana Bread (some of the best I've had), & Croissant. It was all splendid! Definitely recommended

Our breakfast was here every morning. Best value coffee and breakfast sandwiches or croissants or pastries. They roast their own coffee and the baristas work is spot on. I get double shot flat whites and they make them well. Service is professional and pleasant.

Description
Kaffitár is an Icelandic roasterie, specializing in importing, roasting and serving the finest Arabica coffee beans. Apart from the roasterie, the company owns seven coffee stores-espresso bars or cafés. They are located at our roastery in Reykjanesbaer, in Kringlan shopping mall, in Smáralind shopping mall, down town on Bankastraeti, in the Culture house at Hverfisgata, in the National museum and at Höfdatorg. We buy 75% of our coffee directly from the farmers, this we call "from farmer to cup" which means that our buyer, has visited the farm and selected the coffee. Lots of our direct coffee comes from Ricardo Rosales at Jesus Maria in Nicaragua. El Injerto in Gvatemala and Daterra in Brazil are also farms which we buy a lot from. Our experience is that we get better coffees and more consistent quality. Kaffitár also runs it's own Artisan bakery, Kruderí witch specializes in sourdough bread and delicious pastry.
