We ate here on 3 nights, different soups on all 3 occasions. The restaurant only serves soup and only 2 varieties each night (1 meat and 1 Vegetarian) the soup and "bread bowl" were very good as was the service. The soup cost 1850 IK per pp and a 500ml local beer cost 950 IK. This and Durum just up... More

Nice atmosphere, nice waitstaff, and a simple premise: vegetarian or a meat soup served in a bread bowl. Simple, cheap, filling, what more do you want?

The Svarta Kaffid serves reindeer soup and it is delicious! It's a small cafe up a few stairs and very easy to miss. Everyone should try it in Reykjavik.

My partner and I visited this restaurant and have to say i was very impressed by the soup; it certainly lived up to its claim of the best soup in Reykjavik. The restaurant itself is rather small and cosy with a good atmosphere. The only reason this hasn't been given 5 stars is because the staff can't across as quite... More

They have 2 soups. One Reindeer Soup and One mexican soup. That's it. They come in a bread bowl. Both are so delicious and filling! The price was about $20 per soup and beer was about $14 a beer. Go here. It's incredible.

This place must be a little gold mine for the owners. After having goulash in a bread bowl in Prague a few years ago we have become partial to this kind of dish, especially on a cold, Winter's day. We stumbled across this place while sightseeing and headed straight in on seeing the picture of the soup in a bread... More

we found this by accident as we were walking around downtown Rejkavik on a cold and blustery evening. It was so good we came back the next night. We were only in Rejkavik for three days so two out of three is pretty awesome. And the soups were excellent, had the Hungarian meat soup and a curried soup one night... More

Myself and my partner were staying in Reykjavik for 3 nights and we ate here twice. Brilliant soup with friendly, quick service. It's also very cheap compared to other places we ate - which is a miracle as it was the best meal we had the entire holiday. Nothing like soup to warm you up on a cold Icelandic day!

We came here twice during our stay. This place is quite small and you're not guaranteed a table but wait a few minutes and usually you can me accommodated :) We loved the soup in the bread, such a traditional idea and it was so tasty! They do 2 x soups a day - 1 veg and 1 meat. A... More

Tiny family owned soup restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik We are the first "soup in bread" restaurant in Iceland. We've been serving soups in bread for over 20 years and still loving it. We don't take reservations, ever - but swing by and we will do our best to fit you in with smiles on our faces! :)
