Svarta Kaffid has become so well known that we had to queue to get in, however the queue moved very quickly and we really enjoyed our meal. Turnover is fast as there are two options, a meat soup or a veggie soup. I had the veggie, hubby had the meat and we both enjoyed our soups plus the bread was... More

So GOOD! We have been twice already. I love this place. Definitely recommend. I am a vegetarian and got the veggie soup selection both times, so good!

Like all of the other reviews state: 2 soups each day, both are amazing. Go with a friend/lover and get both and split them! Definitely a spot to not miss, and a great value in this very expensive city.

It's nice to go there, sit down and have a beer. I wouldn't go there to sit for very long because next tables are very near and I sometimes feel cold there. But the staff is excellent!

Very cosy restaurant in the Main Street serving hearty soup in a delicious bread bowl, simple but perfect, they serve two soups daily, a meat and a vegetarian option. It was ideal after our morning swim at the local outdoor pool Well worth a visit!

Good soup served in a loaf of bread. The weather had all of us craving the warmth of a bowl of soup so it worked for us. Well located in central Reykjavik so good to include on a walk through town. Place is warm and staff are friendly. Both veg and non-veg options. Good coffee too.

If your visiting Reykjavik, this place is a must visit. Always full, only 2 soups and drinks on the menu and really polite and welcoming staff. Expensive (1890 ISK) per soup and roll but it's Iceland.... so everything is expensive and after visiting 8 years ago, it was on my list of places I HAD to revisit when I returned... More

Tiny family owned soup restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik We are the first "soup in bread" restaurant in Iceland. We've been serving soups in bread for over 20 years and still loving it. We don't take reservations, ever - but swing by and we will do our best to fit you in with smiles on our faces! :)
