The cafe was recommended by previous visitors to Reykjavik and we were not disappointed!. It offers two soups contained in a crusty bread bowl and our soup was delicious. The cafe had a nice atmospehere and I would return.

After researching the area on TripAdvisor this had been a place on our list to eat. We had read reviews which said it gets busy so we went for an early lunch around 11:30 as we were also going Whale watching this day. There was Italian vegetable or Himalayan meat soup. We both opted for meat. The soup was thick... More

I'm not even a huge soup fan but theirs was fantastic. We had our choice of either a pepperoni and beef or a vegetarian option. My husband and I got one of each so we could try both. They both came in a large crusty soft bread bowl and were fantastic. Perfect option for a cold and rainy day. We... More

Perfect for a cold snowy day, 'soup in bread'! tasty, filling and a nice atmosphere. Was very busy, for a good reason!

Great place although there is often a queue outside to get in! It's a small, warm, cosy restaurant which only sells two different types of soup. One veggie one meat. Soup is served in a bread bowl and it's delicious. Huge portions and great value for money.

I had been recommended this place from a friend and I would have missed it if I hadn't been looking for it. They offer 2 types of soup served in a big piece of bread. We went with a South American Meat soup which was delicious. When we left there was a queue outside the door of people waiting to... More

With most restaurants in Reykjavik being very pricey, we opted for Svarta Kaffid for some affordable and filling food. It definitely did not disappoint. When we arrived the meat soup was gone so we got the vegetable option. It was really delicious. The soup was thick and slightly spicey. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the... More

Having seen TripAdvisor reviews, decided to come here. Imagined something "cheap and cheerful" but, actually, the soup and bread has to be one of the best I have ever tasted. Would definitely recommend

I had read about this place on trip advisor and visited on tuesday 21st feb. We called in about 3pm and soon got a table and were given our two choices. We selected the beef, lamb and bacon option, and it soon arrived at our table. It was a hollowed out loaf with soup inside and was delicious! Three portions... More
