We bumped in this cafe casually taking a stroll from the Marina hotel. Not only it's super close from where we stay (even in stormy days), but you are NEVER disappointed. We went every single morning. The pastries are always warm, flaky, and fragrant. My husband tried also the apple cake, the crepes, and the muffins. All along with a nice, hot, and foamy Lavazza cappuccino. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy with a nice view of the harbor. Colors are soothing (blue and velvet) and there is even a nice and cozy fireplace. Staff is helpful, nice, graceful, and kind. Thank you for a great experience :)

This was the first place I stopped at, opting for a coffee and a sandwich whilst I was exploring the harbour. The quality was great, even if it was a little expensive, it worked out as about £18! But prices in Iceland are a little higher anyway so I was prepared for it.
If you are out and about in the harbour, it's worth taking a quick pit stop here.

First day in Iceland and still getting over the shock of the prices!
Had a wander down to the harbour and called in at Rost for lunch.
A very warm and friendly place with lovely decor and comfortable seating.
Had a smoked lamb open sandwich with rocket and dill - absolutely to die for.
Two sandwiches a beer and (free) water for the equivalent of £54.37

We were with a group so we were required to pre-order so I’m not sure about the regular menu. We had the tomato soup which was really delicious. The cod fish was wonderful but my companion had the lamb which she said had too much fat for her liking. The chocolate dessert was fantastic. But, the best was the staff. So friendly and accommodating. And the location is on the waterfront just steps from the central plaza. We would definitely return here if we were in country again.

After an afternoon whale watching, this is definitely the place to stop to warm up. The mulled wine is delicious and the sourdough with honey and cinnamon is delicious. Perfectly located on the harbour with fabulous views. It’s warm and cosy like a great big hug

We enjoyed a good midday view of the harbour from a table near the window on a sunny day. The service was friendly enough and very prompt - maybe a 5-10 minute wait for our meal. The food was fresh and had unique flavours - we had the smoked lamb sandwich, which was very good.

Popped in here for a quick drink while waiting for an excursion to start. I couldn’t believe how warm and cosy I felt from the moment I stepped inside. The people were friendly, the coffee was great and I elected to have a traditional Icelandic cake while I was there. Both were delicious, and I recommend this place to everybody in the area! Prices like the whole of Iceland will be a bit of a shock to newbies, but they were absolutely in line with everywhere else.

This was the first place that we stopped for lunch after arriving in Reykjavik, the food was delicious. Really fresh and tasty. Me and my husband had really nice open sandwich. My daughters had avocado on toast and yoghurt. Every scrap of food got eaten.
The interior is very warm and cosy! We thought that the view to the harbour was gorgeous (We realised a few days later that it gets even nicer than what we could see on the grey day!)
The staff are all very friendly !! Thankyou so much

Recently had lunch at this quaint bistro in the Old Harbour. We both had the Soup and Sandwich Combo (1,512 Kr each). The soup was homemade and the sandwich really tasty. Would definitely recommend this Bistro to anyone visiting Reykjavik.

We stopped by to try rainbow coffee, and we really enjoyed it. Great choices with surprising twists, loved all of them, but mushroom was my choice while hubby liked charcoal. Extremely nice service from every person we encountered and beautiful view of the marinated so highly recommend it 😀.

So I first visited Reykjavik Rost back in July 2023 and at that point, sat at a table and tried one of their stunning Maple Sage lattes - I was hooked!
Fast forward 13 months and it’s August 2024 and having just woken up in my first morning in Reykjavik having wrapped up a mammoth 11 day road trip around Iceland there was no other place I wanted to be than sat in the window of Reykjavik Rost, looking out into the harbour with a delicious cup of coffee!
On arrival, the window seats were free! Happy days!!! We didn’t manage to sit at the window last year and I was positively made up that we could this time, the opportunity to sit and watch life in the harbour go by in the warmth of the cafe and the cozy notes of coffee floating through the air - it was perfect!
Having headed up to order hoping and praying the delightful Maple Sage latte was available…we were a couple of days early! The autumn menu hadn’t been switched in yet…gutted! The lovely barista did offer to get the ingredients in should we return the next day but sadly it was our last full day before departing. A beautiful offer but one I sadly couldn’t make! If anything though it is testament to the team in the cafe, you feel at home, welcomed and oh so relaxed whilst sat sipping on some superb coffee, what more could you want!
There are some truly stunning cafes and coffee shops in Reykjavik but for me, none beat the atmosphere and experience you get here at Reykjavik Rost, a 10/10 year on year…until next time ;)

We happened to find ourselves walking by Reykjavik Rost on a Monday afternoon strolling through Reykjavik. Whilst walking around the harbour area I spotted this cosy looking little venue overlooking the harbour and just had to go in for a drink.
The venue itself is gorgeous, a warm and homely wooden building with big glass windows overlooking the harbour with seats at them so you can sit, sip and watch the world go by - what more could you want? I could have sat in there all day but unfortunately we had plenty of other things planned.
My partner opted for an oat latte of which was an incredible quality coffee, a stunning taste. My attention was captured however by one of their specials a Maple Sage Latte. Now I know I like maple, and I do like sage (typically in my cooking) but I never would have imagined putting them together. Needless to say it was a shock to the palette initially as I'd never tasted anything quite like it but it was safe to say...I was hooked!
The staff were all attentive, quick and friendly - really adding to the homely vibe. I will definitely visit on my next trip!

We stopped off at this cozy cafe as it was just what we needed as we were walking down a very cold harbour front. Probably one of the best hot chocolates I've had in Reykjavik and the food was delicious perfect for lunch time. The cheese and Ham toastie was incredible!

I came here every day during my stay in Reykjavik. The coffee and the venue were delightful and I loved to begin my mornings with a cup of mocha and a pastry on one of their super cool chairs. An eclectic, warm, effervescent space to grab a cup! xx
