Great food, enthusiastic and friendly service. Quite a treat. Very good drinks, staff took the time to walk through every dish.

I was very frustrated after a sort of hostile hostess and nearly left but was glad I didn't, as the food really was excellent, especially the shrimp.

My wife and I and our two teenagers dined here tonight. All I can say - it is probably the finest Lebanese cuisine I have ever eaten. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in Reykjavík.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the best experience here, the food was okay but the service wasn’t great. There were constantly empty dirty dishes on our table because our waitress never came to pick them up. We ran out of room on our table and ended...stacking the dishes on top of each other ourselves. Also, the food took a long time to arrive. On top of that, the waitress got one of our orders wrong (we ordered shrimp skewers instead of beef skewers). They were apologetic and quickly replaced it but when they brought the new correct order to our table, my husband burned his hand on the metal skewer handle because it was so hot and they didn’t bother to warn us about how hot it was. Finally when we finished our meal, we sat around again with empty dishes on our table for a while before we gave up waiting for them to ask us about dessert and I eventually just asked them for the check. They seemed a little offended as if we were rushing them and the waitress asked me if I needed to leave immediately or something. Bottom line is that the wait staff were extremely inattentive. I noticed they were really focused on this large table of women next to us, constantly refilling their wine etc. but didn’t pay us any attention. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my friends or family because I don’t think the food is spectacular and the service is bad.More

Had dinner here. Trendy place, beautiful decor, open kitchen with chefs hard at work grilling, as evidenced by smoky smell. Friendly, attentive staff. Food was outstanding. Well seasoned, Middle Eastern spiced, very well executed food. Standouts for us were cauliflower, mushrooms, falafel, and olives. Conveniently...located on main shopping street.More

I have just returned from Iceland and there is one thing that sticks in my mind is our night out at Sumac. The food was amazing, lot's of it too! I really liked the Cauliflower, better than normal Cauliflower Cheese, so tasty with so many...flavours. I haven't got a sweet tooth at all but when the friendly staff asked if I wanted dessert I said ok. 3 lot's came out and the Chef asked me which one I like the best! I answered all of them, they were so yummy. They know how to look after their customers. Saving up to go back there shortly. Iceland is an amazing place xxMore

Excellent lamb, hummus and shrimp skewers. Lamb and fish are very much Icelandic fares, however Sumac serves them with Mediterranean sauces and spices. The flat bread is very unique. Good service with a smile.

We went to Sumac about 3 weeks ago. I was expecting a lot from this place as it is more in the "high price" range place to eat. The food was out of this world, delicious, we had hummus, red pepper dip, fallafel, flat bread...and also the potatoes, aspargus dish, some halloumi and meat skewer. Everything was fantastic and the cocktails as well. But Oh boy, the service. It felt like we were at the subway or a random burger gaz station. The guy serving us was rude, his way of talking to the customer was not adaped at all for this kind of place. Twice the food was taken away from us even if the dishes weren't empty. We arrived at 6pm and at 6:10pm the food was served before the cocktails. We felt really rush like the only goal was to get us out of here to load up wih the next group of people. At 7:10 we were out of the restaurant and spent 25 000kr! We didn't even get asked if we wanted a dessert. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend this place, even if the food was fantastic, the experience was terrible. If you are looking for a higher standart place I would recommend The Food Cellar who has an incredible menu as well and the best service in town. Sumac I really think that if you train the staff a bit more you deserve a Michelin Star for sure !More

Lovely city centre Lebanese restaurant. Great food, good wine selection and attentive staff. Visited on our final night in Reykjavik, and will definitely eat here again in the future. Interesting menu - obviously very Lebanese, but with wonderful Icelandic ingredients. Not cheap, but nothing is...in Iceland. Overall, good value for money.More
