This was my second visit to Sumac and although the food was ok, it was nothing special. Everything was a bit pricey, whether it was the drinks or the food, especially the starters and snacks. My whole group agreed that this visit was ok, but...More

Went with my boyfriend and we had the baked cauliflower, deep fried cod and giant shrimp. The food was excellent, i would definitely recommend, especially for pescetarians and vegetarians. The restaurant also has great vegan options!

A stylish restaurant in the center of Reykjavik. It has a unique concept of Icelandic and Middle Eastern blend. Service was very good. I I enjoyed the roasted cauliflower and the flatbreads the most. Worth a visit!

If you visit Sumac I strongly encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and go for something you usually wouldn't. I, for example, am a Class-A carnivore and went for the "Roasted cauliflower" - and was glad I did, I had no idea...More

Went to Sumac last night, had heard a lot of good stuff about the place. Well, to sum it up, it was better than I expected. I was seated at the kitchen with all the preparations in full view. Clearly very skilled people and seemed...More

We had the set menu without the wine. The food was Lebanese style. Excellent flat bread, hummus, slow cooked salmon and more for starters. Main dish wash lamb with spicy potatoes and pistachio ice cream as a dessert. Service was great. The only negative was...More

Description
The restaurant is named after Sumac, a deep red berry that grows along the Mediterranean coast and throughout the middle east. The smell of our coal grill will greet you as soon as you enter, where we cook a mixture of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes. We are also gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan friendly. Our menu can be described as a narration of pristine, Icelandic seasonal ingredients, submersed in exotic spices influenced by mediterranean and Middle-eastern flairs. This is Icelandic cuisine with luscious and inspiring influences mainly from Lebanon and Morocco, while the bar includes wines and spirits from Lebanon, Morocco, new world and old-world wines including organic options, plus our specially house-made concoctions and classic cocktails. The interior of the restaurant, with a large bar and open kitchen, is a designer restaurant that creates the perfect atmosphere for an adventurous night out. The industrial tile and concrete walls meet light leather booths and perfectly lit lamps, while green plants and large windows lighten and freshen the vaulted ceiling and garden rooms.
