Fast attentive service from the get go, scallops amazing and well presented, the Salmon was an enormous chunk with a huge flavour. Halibut was well, superb. I was eying the enormous prawns on the table next door with envy. The pudding was seriously large ,...on this rare occasion we shared a white cheese and we could not finish it, probably because I actually had two starters, but certainly I would have struggled with a portion on my own. Excellent service from Salina I think it was, but everyone was attentive and lovely.More

The food was pretty good, except for the whale which was really disgusting. It was sort of fatty and gritty. I have eaten and enjoyed camel, reindeer, and alligator, so it's not as if I'm a squeamish eater. Have a sandwich before you arrive. The...portions are miniscule. My brother got the Char sushi. It consisted of 6 quite tasty strips of sushi for around $55 and nothing else. He wound up quite hungry. Service ranged from nearly nonexistent to just plain bad. A waitress brought out my entree first, then there was about a 15-minute delay until my brother’s entre came out. This was bizarrely then followed separately by my entrée, and finally his appetizer. When I questioned the waitress about this unusual sequence, her response was “the food is cooked in different places, and we just bring it out when it's ready”. ??? We did have a pretty good bottle of wine, it might have been an Alberino --- I forget. However, once it was poured the waitress never came back to refill our glasses or even ask if were enjoying our meals were going. Then, a male waiter then put the bill on our table before we were even halfway through our meals. After I looked at him quizzically, he took back the bill. Bottom line, the young ladies who first greeted us and who was running the upstairs bar, were consummate professionals. Everyone else we interacted with acted as if they had been hired that afternoon with no previous restaurant experience. FYI, Two nights later we ate at Restaurant Geysir (about a 90-minute drive) which was totally amazing.More

My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Fish Market on the recommendation of several friends from Raleigh who raved about their dining experience. The entire menu looked amazing and we opted for the tasting menu, which did not disappoint. One of the top...three meals we’ve ever had!More

We had a very nice meal at this restaurant and went for the "tasting menu" which was excellent as we experienced some food we had never eaten before. Very friendly staff - very busy so worth booking.

Recommended by a local. Very good, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentations. Young crew, very friendly and helpful. Was very full on a Sunday night. Expensive.

A great experience. Fantastic tastes from start to end. Will definitely not be the last time I visit this place. 15 persons around the table and all agree that this was top. Thanks for a great evening.

On our last night in Iceland, we walked into this restaurant because it smelled good from outside. They were packed, but they found a place at the bar for us, and we're very glad they did. The gluten-free menu is good, but the celiac menu...is significantly more limited. (I'm celiac.) Our server, Patrick, and I worked together to find dishes that worked, and Patrick put in the extra effort to make sure the kitchen followed my dietary restriction. We had the arctic char sashimi, maki roll, rib eye steak, and cod. The sashimi and roll were excellent and would benefit from gluten-free tamari. If you get the rib eye, make sure to order the optional Icelandic wasabi. The cod is just good. Our bartender, Thor, was exceptional. We didn't order anything fancy: a gin and tonic for my wife and a vodka martini for me, but these standard drinks can be challenging to get right. Thor got them right even to recommending the Icelandic gin and how best to adjust the tonic amount to make that gin show best.for that gin. We understand why Fishmarkadurinn often has a waiting list, and we'll look forward to returning.More

Walking in you can immediately tell it’s high end. The place is so cool, there are at least three floors of seating! My family jokes that the tourists got put up top on the third floor because it was just us - downstairs seemed to...be filled with locals. The food was very good. My family loved the fish - especially the salmon and cod. I got the vegetarian options. The roll was pretty good, but I was deeply impressed with the oyster mushrooms. Mushrooms are hard to mess up but these were exceptionally fantastic. Finally, the Moscow Mule was one of the best I’ve had while eating out. Plus crushed ice, which is always a bonus. Also apparently Rick Steves likes this place and I trust the guy.More

DO NOT MISS this restaurant while in Reykjavik! This was an amazing dinner with incredible food. Service unfortunately was spotty with several (6?) different people attending to us and a long wait between our soup and mains. Now, back to the food. We started with...sweet and spicy edamame which was delicious in a sweet soy sauce with some kick. The seafood soup was spectacular! The crab and coconut broth paired magically with the sea urchin and rock crab, one of the best soups I’ve ever had. Our main courses of miso black cod and halibut were truly fantastic. Perfectly cooked and moist with amazing flavors. The chef here is a master of flavor profiles with each bite leaving you stunned. The white chocolate cheesecake was nothing less than masterful. Cheesecake, coconut ice cream, fresh berries, meringue and fresh slices of passion fruit. Just an incredible meal I will never forget.More

Good, if expensive, food. But very hard to digest when you see minke WHALE on the menu after having seen these amazing animals in the wild earlier in the week. Please take it off the menu.

We walked in without a reservation and were seated though told we would need to vacate the table in 90 mins for a reservation. The drinks were great but the food took quite a long time to come out. The servers apologized and offered to...comp our meals. Once the food came out, they also comped another round of drinks and dessert. The spider maki and miso cod were excellent! The mixed nigiri was above average. The dessert platter was supreme and included all of their desserts. We felt very thankful they recognized the delay in service and wanted to compensate for it. Would definitely dine here again as they truly took care of us.More

We arrived five minutes early for an 8pm table. We were seated promptly and got drinks and ordered in a reasonable period of time. Then time stood still and at around 9pm when appetizers had still not appeared we asked and they appeared about 10...minutes later. At 10 pm when the main courses were still missing we asked again and they arrived shortly afterwards. I do not know what went wrong but the waiting caused us to call it quits after 10.30pm and we paid and left. Great atmosphere but service level not acceptable.More

Found this restaurant just walking by. The aroma coming from the building was so amazing I couldn't resist. The staff were wonderful and the food amazing. I sat at the bar on the third floor to enjoy my meal which was made all the more...enjoyable by the outstanding barman/server. Pleasant, professional, helpful and a joy to chat with. I highly recommend this restaurant. It will be at the top of my list on places to visit when I return to Reyjkavik!More
