We stayed in Reykjavik for 4 nights and came here for my 60th birthday having booked first in the UK based on previous reviews. We had the Moet Champagne offer which came with liquorish and watermelon and a surprise to find it was quite a lot cheaper than a bottle of house wine! We had 6 dishes which were plentiful and extremely well cooked and presented . Restaurant has a great cosy romantic atmosphere with lots of candles which was exactly what we wanted . Waitresses were very friendly and attentive and we had a lovely view of the big church from our table . We shall definitely return next time we visit

We were lucky to get a table at this delightful dining establishment! Very popular, and after we received our food, I knew why….the char fish over couscous was so full of flavors that filled your senses were mesmerized and the texture was perfection for fish! We also enjoyed the fish stew, risotto(“best I ever had”), roasted potatoes, lemon cured salmon and salad with avocado dressing! We were very concerned about the prices and sizes, but ordered 2 items each, drank only water, and had a superior taste of Iceland dinner for three for $88! Service was good, but one server assisting a full restaurant can only do so much! Would definitely return!

My partner and I visited this restaurant on our last night in Iceland. It is situated beautifully across from the famous Reykjavík church and it has a really modern and cosy ambiance. Within the service was good and the staff very friendly. The food arrived in decent time and was of excellent quality. The portions are small but were defident and tasted beautifully. We shared the Iceland cheese to start followed by chicken skewers, beef tenderloin for my partner and cured reindeer and Icelandic Char for me. We both had the chocolate brownie for dessert. 3.5 plates each was perfect and for Icelandic prices, the bill wasn’t too steep at all. An excellent meal overall and I would return.

Reserved a table for 4 at 5:30 pm knowing we all wanted the five-course tasting menu. Immediately placed our order to get started - wasting no time. Would you expect to be given a 2-hr time to eat it a $400-500 meal with wine when the kitchen could not deliver the courses in the allotted time? Before deserts could be served, our kind and embarrassed waitress told us that we only had 15 minutes left. The brownies & cream had to be packed up to go! We understand the place is small and they have no waiting area. But this scheduling and inconsiderate treatment was absolutely terrible. It ruined what would have been a nice final dinner in Reykjavick. So we leave no comment on the food, will never return, or recommend to anyone else.

We stayed at this restaurant, first I would like to talk about the dishonesty of the owners and staff. As soon as we arrived we asked if they had a wardrobe and we were told no so we put the jackets behind the chairs and on the windowsill inside the room, where a lantern was placed with a candle inside, no one told us not to put the jackets there! unfortunately the lantern lived lost a protective glass factory losing even its security for a public place. The jackets caught fire and luckily a passer-by knocked repeatedly on the glass, my mother-in-law turned and saw the fire so as not to burn both the people I stood with my back to the fire and not catch fire the local instinctively took the flaming jackets and threw them on the floor. Asking for damages for their lack of security I was told that he would pay their insurance (as normal in all places in the world) I paid my bill without any discount but sure of their good faith and their professionalism! Unfortunately after three months of emails from me their reply was that their insurance did not cover the damage and thank you and goodbye. I pointed out with several emails that the damage had created them by breaking the glass without being replaced and not having told me not to put my jacket there. As for the bad food even that with frozen dishes and a mixture of flavors that made no sense, slow service you have to continually call for water or bread. I highly advise against both food and honesty and professionalism, I think you can find better in the capital even if Icelandic food is very limited.

My recent experience at restaurant Rok in Reykjavik was a complete letdown. We chose the six-course tasting menu at €130 for two, expecting a culinary delight. Instead, we received minuscule portions that were clearly meant for one person, forcing us to awkwardly share them. The portions were laughably small and not designed for sharing, making the experience messy and inconvenient. We were struggling to divide tiny portions. One course was literally two spoonfuls of risotto per person. Adding to the frustration, the same utensils and plates were used for the first three courses. When we finally insisted on new plates after the third course, the waiter reluctantly provided them, but the cutlery was never changed. A glaring issue: dirty plates and utensils should be replaced between courses. It's basic hygiene and customer service. Sure, the food tasted good but there wasnt much to eat. Overall, the tasting menu, at €20 per inadequate course, was an absolute rip-off. I cannot recommend this tasting menu to anyone. Save your money and opt for something else.

We went to the restaurant and it didn't have the menu that was on the website and we had to eat a toast and a steak (quite expensive prices) approximately 15 euros for a toast (there weren't many other things, we were looking for fish dishes) I attach the menu that was inside the restaurant. I don't know if there is a menu for certain days or certain times but that is not specified anywhere so we couldn't know what type of menu there was going to be. in total 51 euros for a toast and a steak. Attached below is the menu that was in the restaurant and you just have to look for the menu on the web.

Oh! If you see a dinner in front of you, you have to think again. Small (extremely) dishes with a decent taste were served at a very high price Atmosphere good! The rest is absolutely not worth the money unless you feel that "money is not a tight sector".

This was unfortunately a bad experience. I have been here before and decide to take my friends who where visiting from Denmark. We ordered the Taste menu and it was not good. There was no Hreindýr and they brought us chicken instead (common), the risotto was overcooked, the duc was burned, smelled burned and tasted burned. The staff was nice and service but they could not find out about opening more than one bottle of wine we wanted to order two bottles and have the second one open it at the same time as the first so it could get some air. This was not a cheap dinner but defiantly not worth it, did not ask for discount due to no Hreindýr but felt that it should have been offered.

This is a smallish restaurant, located right next to Hallgrimskirkja, with focus on small dishes (kind of a oversized tapas). I visited with family in the early evening 5pm before the place was getting full. We had had a big lunch, and wanted to have a bit lighter dinner, so this restaurant seemed like the perfect choice for us. We had tried to visit two days earlier, but without a reservation right before 6pm we would have needed to wait for 30 minutes to get a table, so we skipped the visit then. Now we had a booking, which seems advisable. I picked a risotto and cold reindeer. This was perfectly OK, due to the risotto being maybe 1/2 of a standard risotto plate in finer restaurants. If I had been hungrier, or if I had chosen something smaller than the risotto, I would have needed a 3rd and maybe a 4th smaller dish. Both of my dishes were very good. My wife got a duck confit and a small plate with asparagus. Again, the duck confit was substantial, and the asparagus less so. Our 13-year old sun got a 150 g beef tenderloin with potatoes (one dish), which was just right for him. Grown-ups would, again, have needed 1, 2 or 3 additional dishes. In summary, all dishes were quite nice, and were sufficient considering that we had had a heavy lunch 5 hours prior. The resulting bill (including one glass of wine) was very reasonable by Reykjavik standards, but having 4 instead of 2 dishes for everybody would have easily doubled the bill. Which would have still been quite OK, according to Reykjavik standards. So, nice place, one of the nicest we visited, and well worth going.

We stumbled across this place as we were looking for somewhere to eat. We had a look at the menu and liked the sound of it so we decided to grab a table. We timed it perfectly as the restaurant was full 10 mins after we had sat! We ordered 2 of the ‘main’ dishes each as this is what the waitress recommended and it was the perfect amount. The food was absolutely incredible! There were so many different flavours and the meats were cooked to perfection. We also had the Icelandic Christmas bread which was fantastic also! Lovely decor and the staff were great. Also not too expensive for Iceland. For the quality of the food, we were expecting it to be much more expensive.

So we went without a reservation and this was no problem. The food quality and service were excellent - we chose 3 small plates each which was just about enough for two. Although hubby probably needed a few more to be full ! Highly recommend the beef , reindeer and duck . Mushrooms and brie average Prices about on par with other places here, so you're looking at 60/70 a head with 1/2 drinks. As with many meals here, the food was luke warm eather than served hot as I would expect, hence the drop in stars

Very good restaurant with very original recipes. The big downside is on the prices of the dishes because they are small portions (the restaurant recommends taking several dishes per person) with prices corresponding to normal dishes. But we eat really well there!

This restaurant is an amazing place, where you feel at home. We had 3 courses, the plates are small but 3 is enough. The courses were scrumptious and above all our waitress Boguey was so cute, smiling and She provided very good advices. We absolutely recommend this restaurant, the price is quite reasonable for such a good quality.

We had this restaurant recommended. We were a group over 10 people. The place is nice but very busy. The service and information is also busy, and because of that there are easy to having misunderstandings. The food tasted well, but because the service is so busy I did not feel secure about if my beer was the non-alcohol I had ordered.
