While we were wandering in the touristy area of Reykjavik, shopping for last minute souvenirs we stumbled upon the Messinn. We went in for lunch as the menu was well-priced and sounded delicious. The staff was courteous and friendly, and had menus in Icelandic and...More

Messinn seemed to have just what we were looking for: no frills seafood. The place was nice, but the food left much to be desired. The food was greasy, they used frozen shrimps and much of the seafood was overcooked. The most bizarre thing was...More

Amazing food! The best I had in Iceland and so was the service. They're focused on fish but serve a great vegan dish aswell. Prices are really good compared to the rest of Iceland.

Remember. This is Iceland, the viking country, with very proud people. The food was good including fish and dessert. But a few things were not right. We asked for a French white wine. The waitress poured the wine, without letting someone in my party to...More

Highly recommend Messinn! The vegan dish they offer was great even though this restaurant focuses on fish courses. I also tried one of their fish dishes and it was one of the best I´ve had here in Iceland. Gourmet food! Great service and atmosphere and...More

Went with friends and had fish, raised in Iceland, living in Hofn fishing village eating hyper fresh fish all the time. This was an enjoyable delightful experience, simply best fish I've had. Thank you chef Snorri

Casual dress code. It’s a very nice place but it’s not a high end restaurant. Very rustic interiors.

You can check out the menus in English on Messinn's website. There are two locations - the Laekjargotu one is near Tjornin (the pond) and the other one is near the Maritime Museum. From what I've seen, the one near the pond... More
