Years ago I had an excellent meal at Pakkhúsið. My experience a few days ago was a let down. Perhaps the pandemic has forced them to pare down their standards. The baked cod was uninspired. The service, while friendly, had a perfunctory quality to it.
The restaurant is nice - Upper floor, the lower floor is less nice. We got the duck & pork (really excellent!) and the lamb (best one in Iceland so far). Wine prices really reasonable and perfect service! One of the best places in Iceland in...3 weeks time.More
For those who judge their restaurant experience solely by the quality of the food: go there. Amazing, creative, very high quality and fair price/value. Those who, like me, define a good restaurant by the overall experience including atmosphere and, most of all, the service: be...warned. OK, Iceland might not be the haven for incredible hospitality, but having untrained, unfriendly trainees handling the service and letting the customers wait forever can easlily be avoided. Unfortunate, that the Maître d' - really very endeavored - could not compensate.More
Langoustine heaven, that will sum it up. Basically the langoustine served here is top notch, it’s big, comes with tasty potatoes and a salad, and it’s extremely juicy and tasty. Really great. The soup too is fantastic.
And as for dessert, it was the best...dessert we had in Iceland. The skyr dessert is very unique and extremely delicious. Great service too!More
