This coffee/lunch bar is built above a stable where you can watch a whole bunch of happy cows. The goulash soup was decent as well as the coffee. Service was grumpy-ish (the owner) to friendly (his wife), and the bill for two including a chocolate...More

An unusual and altogether pleasant experience. The restaurant is right next to the barn where the cows are milked by mostly automated equipment (fascinating). The food was great, the roast beef the best we've had in quite a while. The host (and owner) Einar was...More

Me and my 4 year old loved the cows. He fed them potatoes and grass, pettet them and talked to them. Coffee was good and with a view of the barn. Milkshakes were ok - we'll definetely visit again.

Went here as I heard it was a must see sort of deal- I was disappointed to say the least. Viewing cows in a trapped environment while being milked by a robot to release their pain. Not for me as I had heard they were...More

We had such a great experience here, eating a late lunch (after visiting a 16th century thatched house nearby) overlooking the cows. The food is quite good; my party had, between us, the Icelandic beef soup, the goulash, the smoked trout bagel, and a waffle...More

Nice place outside Akureyri for coffee and some snacks. Culinary is nothing extraordinary - but you get to watch cows while sipping your coffee. Will be back

Description
The coffehouse is located in the loft above the cow barn at Gardur farm which is the biggest and most automatic cow barn in iceland. Up there you can sit down a look down on the cows going about there daily lives like for example going in to the robot and get milked. And you dont have to worry about not seeing the milking because milking is going on day and night. If you are not intrested in the cows we offer a beautiful view practicly in all directions in our front seeting area. We offer light meals that focuses on using our production the beef and the milk. For example hamburger with our beef mayones, mustard and pickels all made in our kitchen. Stew of the day,Goulash soup, roastbeef bagel and trout bagel Beef carpaccio, and offcourse cakes and more that we bake in our kitchen. But our most popular thing on the menu are the traditional icelandic waffles with wipped cream and rubarb jam. Please be welcome to come bye and see farming in iceland and taste our production.
