Great Thai in Northern Iceland

Went with my son (14 years) for a quick dinner on the road trip. We have visited numerous thai restaurants in many countries and this one was in fact an unexpectedly good experience. Busy place with Thai people among the customers too 😉 Liked that they have a section called “spicy dishes” in the menu too.. great service too.

Delicious Thai

Delicious and authentic Thai food served by warm and efficient staff. They will tailor the spice level to your palate so go ahead and ask. The menu is extensive and there are items that are not Thai, e.g. random stir fried noodles. My advice would be to steer clear of those dishes and choose the Thai specialities.

Believe it or not - it's authentic!

I really did not expect good Thai food on Iceland's north coast. Apparently the host is of Thai descent and the taste of the dishes seem to confirm it. Yes, it's not overly fancy but authentic and, considering Icelandic prices, quite favorable.

Best THai restaurant in Iceland

I recommend a visit to Krua Siam. I am used to THai food and sometimes in Europe the oriental food is too much adjusted to Europian style. Here I had the best Pad Kra Prao Ive had in Europe. I recommend it .

A true surprise in the north of Iceland - Highly recommended.

The first time we came here we were so surprised by the delicious food of this authentic Thai restaurant that we quickly ate there a second time. The Massaman Curry and the Chicken with cashew nuts were really delicious and really tasted like in Thailand. The service is attentive and friendly and an additional advantage is that it is a very affordable restaurant by Icelandic standards. It is highly recommended

Great Thai flavours

Visited here a couple of nights ago for an evening meal. Tasty food and good service. Slightly different from (most) UK restaurants in that the curries etc come as a 'full course' with rice and salad on the plate ( rather than ordering rice etc separately).

Only place still open

Five of us from our tour group popped in here for dinner since it was the only place we could find still open. The restaurant itself is a little shabby, I think every chair at our table had torn upholstery! The food was mixed, some great flavours, some not so great. Some in our party felt the food was not at all authentic. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the prices reasonable. Like other places in Akureyri it was not open very late so we were given strong hints to leave once our mains had been consumed. Not a bad place by any means, but nothing to rave about either.

Dinner at Akureyri

Arrived at Akureyri late in the evening. This is one of the few restaurants that are still open. The place is right close to the main road (ring road) so it is easy to find. Do not know how the parking works but since we stay at the city center so it is only a few minutes walk to the restaurant. The place offers Thai food so it a change from the icelandic food we have been eating during the ring road tour. Its a reasonable sized restaurant so we have no problems getting a table without reservation. Food taste as they should be for Thai food. Place is clean and service was prompt.

Poor food, even worse hospitality

After experiencing wonderful hospitality wherever we have traveled in Iceland it was very disappointing to receive the indifferent welcome at this restaurant. The staff appeared to see us as an inconvenience. The food was also poor so all in all a night to forget! Would NOT recommend unless you like sullen waitresses and mediocre, expensive food.

Surprisingly good!

I’m from San Francisco and didn’t expect much from a Thai restaurant in Akureyri. What a fantastic surprise. This would stand up to San Francisco restaurants. Delicious tofu/vegetables in green curry. Fresh springs rolls. We all enjoyed it tremendously and it was a pleasant change from wonderful but heavy Icelandic meals. Good service too!

Good food - Nice take-away - Nice buffet

I've had take-away from them several times and always liked it. I've also gone too their buffet for lunch once and it was really nice. I really like the pork, the chicken and the noodles from them.

Very tasty meal. Authentic Thai in Iceland. A nice change from lamb and fish. Had the pad se ew and pad Thai as well as the noodle soup. All were excellent.

A good choice at the end of a long day. We ordered few of the most popular dishes like the Penang Curry Chicken and Chicken Cashew and they were good - not great. Service was great and efficient.
