The best reindeer we had in Helsinki was at Kosmos. Our server, Katia, was great. We sat outside and watched all the people passing by--this is a fun spot with delicious food.

This Aalvar Alto-designed restaurant is deservedly acclaimed for serving excellent good while transporting you back to an older Helsinki. A great place to try traditional Finnsh dishes and staples like reindeer, lightly fried fish, and duck breast with a berry sauce. The desserts-- we had the pancakes and vacherine with cloudberries--were scrumptious. A bit of a splurge but worth it.

I truly enjoyed my meal here and would go back. I was intrigued that the restaurant was open 90 years but was surprised that it was a basic (though lovely) space. It didn't feel very historic. My food was excellent (at first my steak was undercooked but they quickly accommodated me and it was perfect a few minutes later). Staff... More

Very nice fine dinning ambience and very nice food. The reindeer fillet very tender. The Merlot was good. Excellent service. Average price. We had 2 starters, 3 mains, 2 desserts and 1 bottle of wine, the bill came to EUR200.

Kosmos is a terrific venue for excellent food in Helsinki. The menu is eclectic, with a range of Finnish interpretations on classic dishes. Local foods, such as reindeer also are available. The interior is classic and makes it easy to be comfortable. Service is friendly and attentive. The desserts are rich, and worth it. Overall, the best restaurant I experienced... More

We found this to be a classic restaurant, just what one looks for in a new city It is a very historic place and goes back to pre WW2 The Nazis used it as a mess, so one can imagine the secrets etc that were shared he The wait staff were excellent, attentive informative but not "in your face" Our... Disclaimer: I was at a conference dinner for about 50 people or so. However, we were all asked to pre-order our food (which we did). So why was it that it took 2 hours for the main meals to come out? The food was excellent - carefully thought out, beautiful ingredients, perfectly balanced - but we were all starving and... More
