Starting from the bread they served everything looked like it was just done as easily as possible for the cook. Service was not good either. Only thing satisfactory was the steak they managed to get it rare as request and it did not disappoint. A nice retreat with relaxing inside decoration. We were seated close to a wide window overlooking a main Street. We were greeted by a friendly and polite gentleman and we knew what we were looking for, namely, decent dishes that we thought well prepared in...Amigo Restaurant. In particular, the beef meat is from well-cut tender part that has a good combination of muscles, fibres and fat as such juicy and perfectly cooked. We ordered Tapas mix, namely Calamares ala Romana, Albondigas en Salsa de Tomate amongst other items. We enjoyed the food very much and it is highly recommended. After several years we visited Amigo. Our impression was that nothing had changed. The furniture and the pictures on the walls looked the same as before as did also the menu. The restaurant desires to be a meat restaurant and has only one fish course...on their menu. A specific feature of their courses is that they are over-sized. We enjoyed their Solomillo al Amigo, which was more than enough for two. We had our three years old grand-daughter with us. She chose salmon from the kid´s menu. The size would have been quite enough for an adult visitor. So if you intend to enjoy a three course dinner, skip lunch. The quality of the food was quite OK. The service was average - no specific complaints, but at the same time no extras, like information about the origin of the raw materials.More
We visited Amigo with some friends expecting authentic or at least somewhat worthy Spanish food. We all found our entree’s to be extremely poor tasting/ nonexistent taste, especially in the case of the pili pili shrimp. We all had steaks for our main course and...were all dissatisfied. Although the steaks were cooked appropriately, both presentation, “extras” (fries for some reason?) and taste was very disappointing. Personally we could not vouch for this restaurant as a Mediterranean restaurant. This felt more like a bad version of the Finnish Tex-mex chain Amarillo. To end on a positive note, the waiter was extremely friendly and helpful in all matters.More
What a lovely lad, welcomed us very nicely. Poured the wine like a real professional and had good banter. 10/10 would come back again food was delicious too
We had a great evening with Friends in this very old, traditional Spanish restaurant in Southern Helsinki. Tapas' were delicious and the plate was enermous, even though shared with four. Wine selection was wide enough to choose from, all though a bit high priced. The...main course, "Robbers Skewer" was wonderful, delicious, and well set. All the incredients were made just like in Spain, and the meats just the way ordered, medium minus. So, a BIG plus to the Amigo, the food, wine, the interior and the service.More
Took some business guests for late lunch here. Great beefs, delicious asparagus with salmon. Not fashionable or today's latest gimmicks - just great food served with heart!
Had a dinner with business associates. Been to Amigo several times and have really liked it. This time was not as good as before. Had snails as starter. Rubbery and no taste. Crema Catalana as dessert. No taste. Robber’s skewer was spot on. My associates...had some other dishes. Shrimps were ok. Special stakes average. In addition the service was not at the level it used to be. Credit cards accepted. Would I go again? Do not think so. Too bad...More
Very happy, excellent food and laid back service. We even met the chef to gratulate him on everything (he had been working there since 1988!!!). Will definitely dine here again soon :)
This was the best meal we had during our stay in Helsinki. The steak was cooked to perfection, while the chicken was tender and juicy. Excellent service. Extremely friendly staff and all reasonably priced for Helsinki. Great value for money, quality dishes.

A perfect restaurant for Spanish food lovers and the fans of steaks. All steaks are of tenderloin, big and extremely delicious. The place was opened in 1971 and hasn't changed much. Choose any steak and you will be more than satisfied. It's not cheap but...has a very good price/quality ratio. The service is good and smooth. To get there, take tram 2 from the city center. You are advised to book in advance.More

This is a place to go if you are "just 2 of you" and you love meat and Spanish food. Their dishes are authentic and excellent and the restaurant itself is cosy and the staff is friendly. The price level is high, but it's worth...it!More
