Bryggeri is a microbrew restaurant well located between the iconic Helsinki Cathedral and the Esplanadi/Harbor market area. We first discovered this place 5 years ago and put it on our list of must visit places for our annual treks to Finland. Shut down during Covid, there have been some amazing renovations in the entire eating and drinking spaces. If you compare this recent photo with those from years ago, you will see massive improvements with the clean, fresh look. But of course, you will come here for the beer and food - which will not disappoint. The bar menu still has a great hamburger, and the full ala cart menu downstairs has some tasty international favorites. About the only bad reviews I have seen on this place involve people who come right near closing time - which should be avoided because the Finns have strict laws and fines for staying beyond the mandatory closing time. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive and spoke great English. Don’t miss this place if you like beer and are looking for a warm, comfortable setting with great food and service.

Setting and beer OK - Disappointing meal

Setting, atmosphere and nice beer but very disappointing meal. The burger was really overcooked, as were the “curly” fries, super hard and unfortunately barely warm when they arrived. The dessert “Brownie” tiny (two bites) and nothing special other than the presentation.

A great Brewery

Found this lovely brewery in a side street just off the Senate Square. Lots of locals which is always a good sign! Great selection of beers and also various wines. My husband had a burger, and I chose a traditional salmon soup which was absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend this. The staff were friendly and very attentive. A great evening.

Local near the port, with an upper and lower area. Good beer but very high prices, like throughout the city. A glass of wine 15 euros, a beer 10 euros. Very slow service and they charge you before serving you the food, something that is even annoying because of the coldness with which they do it. If you don't pay before, they don't work for you. Risotto only has risotto in its name, because it has nothing to do with good rice. the hamburgers, too expensive for what they are. It has plenty of space if you need a dinner with a large number of people, but better just to have beer.

We went for beer because the place is a brewery. We asked for our own beers on the terrace, but they said they had run out, so we were offered Aura?? We also ordered french fries, but after 55 minutes of waiting we left because they never came despite our inquiries. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Why bother? Better places not that far away

Well, thursday eve 22:00+, I guess no reason to expect a huge crowd, but downstairs, which is perhaps more cozy than the small upstairs, was basicly empty, except 2 shabby groups zippin their most probably 1-2 hours ago acquired beers. I had the most expensive pint of tap beer of my (fairly long) life this eve, 11,20 eur, which buys you easily a decent lunch anyday anywhere in Helsinki. This is a record. I’d love to say this ”pub” on a idyllic old short street was nice, but I can’t. This was the 2nd time been here, and can’t recommend it. There simply are more lively and pleasent places to spend time than this. This has nothing to do with personnel, service was polite and nice, nothing to complain there. But sitting basicly alone in the basement with no music nor interesting clienteel. drinking very expansive beer, don’t know maybe ”artisan beer for enthusiasts”, well, why bother. It is a bit pitty....we’d like these quarters to be vibrant and the location should give all means to be that. Did not eat. Dont know of that, if it exists. Hopefully tasty.

Whether you are looking for great microbrewery beer, a modern. and stylish menu, or both - do not miss out on Bryggeri. it has a great location and a lively, friendly atmosphere. I can't decide whether the IPA or the Korean Fried Cauliflower is the star of the show. Try them both!

Poor service...

Always surprised how many nice places in Finland been spoiled with such an arrogant and bad service. Not to wonder why tips are not common here. It is for good service...Staff busy with their mobiles with prepating to close instead of taking care of guests, cleaning here and there but forgetting for instance napkins for a client... a lot of small things which could make a visit unforgettable. Closing gates with bolts to prevent new clients come in but also not helping guests going out even when asking help. Just f..k you as an answer... huhh!

Hi Maria, thank you for your taking the time to write this review. We are very sorry to hear that our service was not to your liking. It seems like you came to our terrace just as we were starting to close and because of the steps that need to be made in order to close the restaurant on time, the staff was not as involved with the customers as you would have hoped. Brewery in the heart of the city

Small brewery in the heart of Helsinki with a large courtyard to sit in and heaters. You have to like Finnish beer, here it still tastes OK. The food is good, our chicken wings were very tasty. You order at the bar and pay immediately, you take your own drinks to the table, the food is brought to you. Everyone there is very friendly. Very small inside and not many tables.

A nice, lively place with plenty of space, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Very nice beer, too. However, stick to the bar menu and forget the A la Carte: the food really isn't worth your time or money.

Standard brewery at Finnish prices

Had the paradise wheat and Hefeweizen beers which were good. Beers are 10 euros each. Also has the fish and chips and 12 piece wings. The fish and chips was the better dish (includes 2 pieces of fish). Has upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating. Overall, experience was good but not amazing. Standard brewery but at Finnish prices.

Great solution for lunch near Point of Sale

We spent a day in Helsinki and returning from the visit of the fortress we decided to stop for lunch in this brewery not far from the Point of Sale square. Great beer and very good also all the other dishes, wings, salmon and hamburgers. Good price by Helsinki standards

A wonderful spot in the heart of the city

Relaxed and spacious brewpub located in the historic "Torikorttelit" quarter in the middle of the city. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with a wide selection of craft beers on tap. The food was delicious and perfectly paired with the beers. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, making for a great experience overall. I highly recommend this brewpub to anyone visiting Helsinki - it's a must-try for any beer lover.

Good food and drinks

We enjoyed our first visit here. I had the tasting menu with the wine package which was excellent. Husband had a borscht with a very interesting (in a good way) beetroot, quince and sea salt beer. Inspired. His sausage selection for main had a very good IPA to accompany. If we were here longer we would return. Waiter knew his beers and wines. Big venue so I imagine it would be very busy at peak period. On a Thursday in February it was quiet except for some boisterous Americans. We certainly enjoyed the experience.
