The restaurant and outside space have had a freshen up this year. I had lunch with a friend, both of us had fish and chips. It was elegantly served with four fingers of succulent fish in a light batter, chip, salad and a good tartar...sauce. Delicious. We shared a cheese platter. Good wines too.More
Overall neither great not poor, average value for lunch although in typical French fashion the €13,50 includes 3 courses with wine and coffee. Knocking off the wine reduces the bill by €1 each so given the quality of the rosé not having the quarter litre...each would seem counterproductive, or was the euro for the café?
Portions small but tasty, so 3 courses not excessive as it would be in many places. Service very good with a hyperactive waitress although we did note 2 people leave midterm without ordering presumably after poor service. We couldn't fault them here and perhaps 4 stars would be appropriate as a result.
Food was tasty and well presented but I would fault the butcher more than the cook. Melon soup excellent, tasty and just enough without being too much. This appearred to be a good choice as the other starters we saw looked average both in presentation and quality. Steak was exceptionally tough, a combination of the cut (typically french being along the grain) but also poor quality meat but it was tasty. I wouldn't be using their butcher! The pork on the table next door looked very good, but then French pork is normally excellent.
Overall, small portions, quality of meat a negative but service and price counteracts and the restaurant clearly fills a place in the village given the number of customers. I'd go back for a drink as the number of wines available (not listed on the menu) looks enourmous though how much is available by the glass is a question.More
Great restaurant and delicious food in lovely surroundings in the garden area. The plat de jour is excellent value.
Staff are very pleasant and helpful.
There was one particular waitress who always had a smile on her face and spoke excellent English which is a...bonus.
Will definitely return.Well done to everyone at Chez MoulinoMore
After our first visit here last year it was good to return to this small but friendly brasserie. The cod and chips were delicious and the steak was good too. Nice desserts in friendly surroundings and good selection of wines and beers! Have visited 3...times and the standard is consistent.More
A feast for the eyes, most certainly. The staff were attentive and helpful, especially as my school days French is very basic. The food was good and I would happily recommend this restaurant to other visitors to Cajarc.
From outside, this restarrant is not appealing but push through to the terrace and you will find a quite buzzing urban decked area giving onto a grassed area, great for kids to play, complete with goal and ball. Great idea. The food portions are more...then generous, too much for me but appreciated by some of our party. The food was very good, but none of us took starters they were very wintery and heavy for the heat. We would have preferred lighter more vegetable based dishes. Excellent chicken nuggets on the kids menu, made with real chicken not the factory floor scrapings!More
We had intended to eat lunch at L'Auberge de Laparrot at Corn which we really like (it does a fixed menu every day and Thursday's choice is steak) but hadn't thought to book and were turned away. We decided to carry on to Cajarc where...there are several restaurants and this was the first we saw. The fixed price menu at €13.50 included steak so we gave it a go and were very pleasantly surprised. Four courses including wine and coffee, starting with a nice veloute de legumes, then three choices of entrée, four mains and two desserts. The faux-filet was excellent with sauce béarnaise and the most amazing potatoes - fluffy sliced unpeeled and finished in a very hot oven, as the chef explained (he said he wanted to do something different because you get chips everywhere) - crispy and fluffy and delicious.
Pleasant staff, efficient service, nice table settings and décor. We will be back!More
A thoroughly enjoyable meal with friendly and efficient service. Soupe de Poissons was first class and the main course of Gambas with Scallops was superb. Good blackboard menu with plenty of choices to suit all tastes and diets. Desserts were delicious too. We will return...on our next visit to this lovely village.More
I decided it was time for a splurge meal after a 32k day on The Chemin. Did the 19Euro complete meal with wonderful starter salad with warm cheese and hot bacon on toast followed by a tasty although a bit tough steak in a delicious...sauce with tasty frites. Had the creme brûlée for dessert which was better than average. Only complaint is I had to buy wine.More
