Delicous dishes, great atmosphere and really professional staff.

We ordered way more than we could finish as pretty much all of the food choices sounded amazing. We were not disappointed. Each dish was unique in both flavor and presentation. We will most definitely return to this lovely restaurant to try the rest of the menu. The bartenders are top notch and server world class cocktails! The wait staff and hostess are super friendly and professional, making sure our glasses were full and that we were happy with our food. The ambiance is a tad chaotic as the restaurant is divided into a smaller area in the front with a bar and a DJ, and two larger sections a mere couple of steps down. We sat in the front, but for a more relaxed ambiance, I would choose the down-stairs next time.

Robust asian fusion with attentive staff

Food was pretty great, nothing magical if you've done the asian fusion thing before but really solid. A single dish ended up being dissapointing quality-wise (fish didn't taste fresh, grainy seaweed), but they brought in an excellent complementary replacement so all good. The drink list seemed to be assembled with great care. Was extremely happy with both my amber ale and white wine and friends all loved their cocktails. Everything was very fairly priced as well. Great place all in all.

Great service, drinks and food! Five out of five chilies!

Very hip atmosphere with some more upbeat music that fits the venue but not too loud or overpowering so you can speak in a normal voice. Service was excellent and the food was very tasty. If you're sensitive to spicy food you should consult with the people working there as a lot of the dishes were on the spicier side. We loved it though! Drinks were awesome as well, highly recommend this place!

1) First waitress to meet us at the entrance almost walked past us, barely gave us any eye contact, no smile and quite average attitude. 2) The seats we were given was (in our opinion) too closely seated to the the other table, it leaves no room for any privacy. 3) The waitress that served us gave us at least one faulty order. At a fine dining such as this, it would have been pleasant to have the dishes explained rather than just simply presenting the name of the dish. The waitress seamed quite stressed which also created a similar atmosphere. 4) The dishes were quite average, the beef-tataki and steamed dumplings were our favourite, the rest forgetable. Summary, not the most friendly, slightly stressful, dishes average in taste but too expensive.

Great concept, however lacks the refinement from the other sister restaurants

Visited Kaifo for the first time with my girlfriend. We are no strangers at the other sister restaurants like bord27, natur, and Totale. This means that we came in withcertain expectations and to an degree the varm familiar feel and great balanced food that we love and come back to at the other places. Of course we understood that the place was new. Menu probably still being tweaked and staff not full in sync. So what was it like? The food was in general to salty, lacking balance in the seasoning. Especially råbiff was a big disappointment. The menu said furikake (but only sesame seads visible, no nori) instead there was a blanket of dill. No where did it say dill. Which at least to me is a deal breaker when surprised with and if it was a replacement to the furikake then no one informed neither the waiter nor us. The drinks were great though and creative. The staff as expected were uncoordinated and when we got asked if we wanted desert and we asked for the bill the women who asked us never came back and we had to ask another waiter ten minutes later when she finally came around our table. So to summarize Food needs more tweaking to be on par with the other restaurants in the family. Especially salt balance could be improved. Staff is lovely and will get better with more experience. Should you visit? Yes, if you do not compare the restaurant (at the time of this review) with bord 27, Totale, Natur in terms of experience and refinement then you should give it a shot. The meny is varied and the meet plate with sides looked amazing and with time I see Kaifo getting up there in popularity, however at the moment for me I prefer to eat at Totale or bord 27.

Needs some rethinking of menu

The service, interior and atmosphere are lovely. Allthough the food could have been better planned. We ordered the set menu with meat and honestly I couldn’t finish it. Not because I was full but because the food was too intense. Too much flavour and too fat and no resting side dish to accompany. The menu is among other cuisines inspired by the Korean kitchen. In Korea you allways get a bowl of rice and often also a basic soup. Something like that would have been nice, or some regular veggies. So to sum it up. They really stuff all flavoursome ideas in there all at once, but it just would have been so more elegant to simplify the experience just a bit.

Hungry…

I love the fact that more and more restaurants have good vegan and vegetarian options, and at KaiFo both me and my partner ordered the vegetarian set menu. Flavors were good, some I would call awesome, but the amount of food was ridiculously small. I feel that KaiFo, like many other restaurants don’t understand that vegetables aren’t as filling as animal based foods. We added on to our order and got the steamed buns as well, but we were both still hungry as we left. I do recommend that you don’t go there starving and maybe order a side of rice.

A bit of both good and bad.

Went with friends and teenagers. The food was good, some dishes great but the "sotad lax" Im sorry to say was uneatable. so salty I couldn't eat but one piece. The dishes was quite small so it takes 3-4 which makes the dinner a bit pricey. Otherwise nice staff and nice place, not too noicy.

Fantastic evening!

If you want excellent, friendly and warm service where they make you feel like home. This is the place to vist. The food was really good, cocktails really tasty (I tried the todays cocktail with cherry and it was a cocktail I still dream of). Try their sake menu with the food! From when we entered the restaurant until we left, all staff were attentive and felt like friends!

Heard great thing about the place, but was really disappointed by the waiting time between the dishes. It took almost 2 hours from starers to check, which we asked as soon as we finished to eat. Being a sort of tapas place, such long waiting time could be a strategy to sell more drinks, but that’s my personal opinion. Nevertheless, it becomes difficult to enjoy the food when served in small bits over 120 minutes. The main dishes (the warm ones at the end of the menu) were not as good as the other, the best being the tuna tartare by far, followed by steamed dumplings and fried shrimps. A couple of bad notes: to our surprise, the fried chicken contained had a disguised shrimp in it! And we found a small dangerous piece of bone in the ribs (which are supposed to come served boneless in a lattice leaf). Price wise, I’m sorry I have to say I would not go there again. The place could be much better if they just give up on the style to improve the overall quality.

Pan Asian restaurant in Gothenburg

Pan Asian restaurant in central Gothenburg along one of the main roads featuring many other restaurants. We like the small comprehensive menu displayed outside and looked busy which is always a good sign. We were given a choice of eating in the bar on stools or at a table inside. Our friendly waitress gave us menus and shortly took our order The starters arrived first which were hot and tasty. The main dishes were full of flavour and great on the eye. We ordered cocktails and beers along with water. Prices here are a bit high again but starter dishes could have been larger. Also quite dark inside regarding the lighting and asked for these to be made brighter. Good evening had eating food we like. Wanted to mention the blonde waitress serving us who gave us tips on where we could go for authentic Swedish meatball dishes, we took her up on her recommendation and they were very tasty, thanks.

Nice food, but go somewhere else

Very nice food, but extremely slow service. Waited 40min to even order, and we ended up being very stressed. They forgot about my wine, so had to wait another 20min just to get that. We had 1,5h before we had to leave, but still we had to eat our main course in just 5min, pay before being served all food, and rush away. Also a very expensive restaurant, and reading the menu in beforehand there was no information about how small but yet expensive every dish was.

Perfect place to share good food with friends

Great Ambiance, great food and service. The only minor problem was, that when we wanted to split the cost of the dinner with 6 persons, it wasn't possible anymore to change it, system-wise. We could then simply pay one by one, so it all worked out. The whole experience was fantastic.

The beef tartar is a must!

Amassing services and cocktails! Music was not too loud, so that was a wonderful plus. The atmosphere was topnotch. The beef tartar was too die fore!!! The rest of the food was well made. We had the tasting menu + the beef tartar and let the staff decide what to drink. They did a fantastic job! I am looking forward to go back to try the other dishes!

Don’t go here if you are remotely hungry

One!! steamed bau-bun for 99kr….. 4 slices of raw beef tataki , around 15 gram each for 170kr…. I’m sorry, but I’m speechless!!! Had to go to McDonald afterwards and buy burgers. Embarrassing to say at least.
