Definitely a great vantage point high above the city for views all around. The upper level roof deck is just amazing. The bar is also good, with decent drinks. And there's a very elegant restaurant on the first level

This was an upmarket restaurant with clientelle about 50% Swedish, 50% visitor. It was busy and our table was right against and overlooked by the one next door, occupied by a lively Spanish group. The restaurant is on the Sodermalm waterfront, by the Slussen, and to reach it we had a pleasant walk through the old town but had to... More

A very well attended and poular restaurant consists of several parts; secondly the bar (which is very good at mixing drinks), and the terrace on the roof and then the restaurant with a breathtaking view over the center of Stockholm and water. The menu is based mainly on Swedish home cooking and as carefully planned as tasty and well-cooked. This... More

Terrific views and a great place to watch the sunset. Food was top notch and service very good. Try to reserve a table right on the window. Also pop upstairs to the bar to watch the sunset. Very memorable all around.

We were taken here by Swedish friends as it is a great venue for first time visitors to Stockholm. The views are spectacular, especially the sunsets. The food was very good, our waitress was superb, not a cheap option but worth every krona. Highly recommended and I imagine essential to book.

Had dinner with 5 others at Gondolen. The view is really nice as you get to see stockholm from above. We enjoyed watching the sunset. Food was great. Service - so-so. One main course (Veal) never came. They apologised and offered us free desserts. I pretty sure this was a one off and would definitely visit again.

This review is just for the bar, not the restaurant The location of this bar is iconic in Stockholm, as are the cocktails. Knowing that there is limited seating in the bar, I tried to arrange a week prior to our visit, to have a couple of seats reserved for us, which I was told was not possible. But it... More

Restaurant "Gondolen" is a legendary place in Stockholm. Once you're in, you're stunned by the great view from the balcony (the restaurant is 30 m above sea level). Place is classy, but people from Stockholm are not that much fixated with dress code, so take it easy if you feel like. I received great attention from the personnel (my date... More

We were lucky to have pleasant weather as we were sitting outdoors. The place was buzzing with a good vibe, service was good, menu intriguing and food quite good. We would return on another visit

Description
Eriks Gondolen in Södermalm floats between the sky and the sea with a breathtaking view over Lake Mälaren and the beginnings of the archipelago in Saltsjön. A restaurant with 320 covers, a gem since 1935, comprised of the Dining Room, the Kitchen, the Bar and the Banqueting Rooms ?Kungarummet? and ?Redarsalen?. In the summer the Grill Bar on the roof terrace is open. Restaurang Gondolen is no less than a modern classic in Sweden's gastronomic world. A place to see and to be seen. At lunch classic homely fare is served such as veal in dill sauce, homemade black pudding or steamed haddock with prawns and horseradish. On the dinner menu are dishes such as a platter of pickled and Baltic herring, seafood cocktail with Norway lobster au gratin, gremolata baked angler fish with ratatouille or roast fillet of veal with a cep confit.

Staying in Slussen

Neighborhood Profile
Slussen
A unique mix of grotesque 1960s concrete urban vision and cosy historical Swedish brick houses, Slussen has become one of Stockholm’s most architecturally edgy and controversial neighborhoods. Plans to rebuild the area have been on the agenda for decades, however, so far no agreement could be reached, which is the reason for the continuing decay of its brutalist substance. Nevertheless, the museums and the main shopping street, Götgatan, attract both locals and tourists with Sweden’s most fashion-forward clothing retailers, hipster coffee shops and restaurants. Once the lights are out, the area turns into a bustling nightlife haven, catering to all preferences, from posh hotel bars to sweaty underground nightclubs. There is no better place to experience the clash between old and new Sweden.
