I have now been to Lao Wai twice. The first time I went was Feb 15th we ordered the Ma Po Dou Fu, and since eating it I have not been able to get it out of mind. It is simply the best Ma Po...Dou Fu I have ever eaten, the vegetables were all cut in equal sizes, the sauce had excellent consistency and the taste was out of this world . We finally came back to Stockholm in Dec and as soon as I booked my tickets I made a reservation to eat here again. The second time we went we ordered two starters and the Ma Po Dou Fu again. I was slightly concerned that it would not be as good but my expectations were not dashed. In fact it was even better the second time. We also liked one of the starters so much (hedghog mushrooms) we ordered it again after we finished our main. If I were ever to move to Stockholm I would be happy to, simply because I would be able to dine here as often as I would like too.More

They adapted couple of the dishes to no garlic and no mushrooms. The tofu dishes were good and the portions were excellent. The dishes came as they were cooked rather than all together.

So. Many vegan/ vegetarian restaurants get by with just being vegan as the vegans will go there anyway due to lack of options, and many Asian restaurants can serve any spicy wok an people will by it as they don't know it can taste better....This place is different! They really make an effort, and there's a genuine love of cooking and spices resulting in completely amazing tastes. This is the only vegan restaurant where I can bring also meat-eating friends being confident that they'll really appreciate the food as much as I do. Oh, and the ice cream is AMAZING! It's almost worth going there just to get the ice cream, I promise!More

This is a simple looking restaurant with great vegan food. There's a good selection on the menu and portions are large. What more do you need?

Amazing food - expensive but it's large portions and meant to be eaten family style. Each entree comes with a bowl of rice. Food is so flavorful and the right amount of spicy. For dessert, we got the coconut milk based ice cream, pandan leaf...flavor. I never tasted this flavor before but it is now probably the best Ice cream I ever had!!More

This is a wonderful lunch restaurant it's a bit far from the office, but we usually take the subway to save time. They have two menus one for even weeks and one for odd. The set meal for each day costs 120kr. It's a very...tasty and filling lunch, even none vegaterians like myself will come back again. It's a small restaurant so go early to get a table. They are also open for evening meals. Do go in and read up on them .More

If you are in the mood for some authentic plant-based chinese food in Stockholm, this is the place to go! The small space has a simple interior which gives of a familiar feel. The portions are fairly generous. The only thing I can complain about...is that I think the teas are a bit expensive.More

A hidden gem in Stockholm. Very authentic Chinese vegetarian restaurant. Although not many options but the menu is sufficient for a small restaurant. The foods were delicious, spicy and flavorful. If one is looking for the 'wok hei' (breath of the wok) cooking technique... this...is definitely the place! Portion was generous thou bit pricey. The 'gong bao su ji' dish was mouth watering... (spicy too!). Very friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.More

I read the TA reviews and fancied something a little different in Stockholm. My wife and I were delighted with the quality of the food and genuinely kind and attentive service and welcome we received. Whilst neither vegetarian nor vegan, we did not miss meat...or fish. We were stunned by the gung pao vegan (chicken equivalent) also the ma po do fu. Both of these dishes we have eaten in China and cooked ourselves many times. They were wonderful in this restaurant - thank you. I particularly liked being able to choose a range of teas to drink with my meal. I would normally choose beer, however I found the tea a lovely alternative. Would def visit again - thank you Lao Wai for hosting us so well. Would recommend you book ahead ( we were lucky with a last minute cancellation - the place was full otherwise)More

It is Chinese New Year today. We walked past a few other Chinese restaurants before arriving at this hidden one eventually. Surprised to discover it is a vegetarian restaurant but so delicious. The ma po to fu made of soya protein is even better taste...than my home made one using pork minceMore

Fresh, high quality food. Delicious chinese cooking, spicy and flavorful. Recommended for non vegetarians. Try especially pistachio/cardamom soya-based 'ice cream'. Good service. Small, but cozy, hole in the wall. May be difficult to seat large parties. Book in advance for dinner.
