Small and cosy, though more a coffee/chocolate place as the name reveals, in fact it is an all-day spot for locals and tourists looking for non touristic places. We stepped in almost by chance looking for a decent budget dinner treat. Our tasting experience was really really good! Delicious food, big portions and though wine is not served, we got... More

Beautyful old building, very friendly staff and delicious cinnemon buns & hot chocolate. Went there twice in 4 days!

As expected, not much was open on the 1st of January in Stockholm however we came across Chokladkoppen which was. This is a beautiful café located in the old town, is well worth a visit. As it was New years day (2017, around 7pm) there were a few occupied tables by we were seated in the basement which was empty... More

This cafe and dessert shop is wonderful! We had to wait a decent amount of time to be able to get a seat for 6 people but once we were seated it was wonderful! We managed to get a corner spot and were able to stay there for a few hours. The Glugg was delicious and we even had a... More

This place has definitely good quality products (hot chocolate, cakes, etc), but is indeed overpriced for the quality. Inside the area is very small so if you go there on weekends or summer you will not have a place inside. It feels cozy, but with more than a t-shirt you'll start feeling a bit hot. The waitresses seem a bit... More

Enjoyed the afternoon visit to Chokladkoppen. My partner had the spinach pie and I had the cinnamon bun - both very good. Lovely & cozy atmosphere.

Went here today for their "famous" white chocolate cheesecake but it hasn't even been defrosted properly! It was still frozen, inedible and didn't taste like white chocolate at all. I complained and the waitress told me it was supposed to be like this..? If I wanted a frozen cheesecake I could have bought one from the supermarket! My friend had... More

A friend recommended this place to us and we ended up coming here twice. The first time, we stopped in for a quick bite to eat and had the lasagna which was quite good. The second time we came in to warm up and have some coffee and cinnamon rolls that they are famous for. The food overall wasn't over... More

Went here for a drink, ended up having dinner instead. Lasagna was basic but tasty. Very small place which gets full easily in winter but nice to squeeze in.

I'm very sad to say that our experience at Chokladkoppen was a failure. Hot chocolate tasted like super market material. It was playing loud greek dancing music the whole time we were there. We went there to chill and warm up, instead we grew headaches. The only good thing was the nuts and caramel pie. But it's not enough to... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
