Is this supposed to be an innovative top-notch vegetarian restaurant? Boring and immensely expensive for nothing exciting at all!! Save money and shred your own carrots topped with fish sauce and have a mozzarella and mango salad on the side. Ambience was refreshing and service good but that was about it!

We were very excited to try this after the excellent experiences at Mathias Dahlgren's previous restaurants. Unfortunately this was one big disappointment. Service was excellent, hence the two rating. On food only it is a one. The food was ok but not particularly impressive. However, it was amazingly expensive. A plate of shredded carrots for €20 is a good example.... More

Me and my partner booths enjoyed the really good service, we had cocktails which was different with tofu foam and their take on a GT, both good but a wee bit overpriced. The white funky house wine was on point! We had about 6 dishes to share and some where more exciting then others, the raw Vietnamese carrots was amazing.... More

I was so excited when i heard that Mathias Dahlgren was about to open Swedens first fine dining vegetarian restaurant... He is probably Swedens best chef, gold medal winner of Bocus Dór for example and lot´s of Michelin stars to his name. Sweden's most celebrated (?) chef closes down his 2-star dining room at the country's premier hotel to go for a vegetarian restaurant. Daring! And it works! This is a totally new restaurant that opened February 13th this year, replacing the old "Matsalen" which got two Michelin stars last year. Same chef but totally different concept. Mathias Dahlgren is a bit of a Stockholm legend with a number of established restaurants under his belt. Had a quick and early dinner at 6pm. Nice interior and table top. Good view into the kitchen. Chefs work properly and quick. Had Ceviche swedish style, very light & delicious. Perfect taste and perfect service. Our in our table didn't eat red meet. Often can that result in boring alternative, but not in this restaurant. The restaurant several small dishes that you combine to a full dinner. Will come back!

Not mentioned below (it looks like) is that this placed closed on Dec. 22 and is being totally remodeled. It will open again in ~2-3 months as a new concept (not sure if the name will change). Matsalen is a modern gastronomic restaurant. Our cuisine is based on using the best fresh produce available here and now in Sweden and other parts of the world, spiced with curiosity and inspiration from everything we encounter.

"The natural cuisine" is a menu that changes with nature and the seasons. We pair wine, beer and other beverages with each of the dishes we create.
