Excellent small plate concept. The food was innovative and very well prepared. We were able to order as much as we wanted and did not leave feeling over-stuffed or unable to remember what we ate. The restaurant is tucked away in the Grand Hotel and well worth the time to find it since the street sign is so unobtrusive.

On August 14, 2014, I celebrated my wife Anna and 10-year wedding anniversary with a visit Mathias Dahlgren's masterpiece. What a tremendous dining experience we had and it was a memory of a lifetime for us. Food and related beverages are world class and I would recommend anyone who has the opportunity to visit this amazing restaurant. It's not every... More

This is a very interesting and different restaurant in that it is very fine food in a very casual setting. There are people seated around a bar other on high chairs and others on regular tables. No table cloths but rather nice little wooden plate places. We went for the three courses rather than the tasting menu, so no tour... More

I was hesitating whether it should be rated as 5 or 4 stars, Certainly compared with mostly frequented and reviewed restaurants Matthias Dahlgren should be rated at 7 or 8. But as it is already Michelin starred restaurant, in its class I felt to rate it only at 4. Overall food was excellent, service on great level, general ambiance a... More

According to Mathias Dahlgren's website they question everything they cook, might I humbly suggest someone in the kitchen take a step back from praising themselves for their use of every bit of flora and fauna and the quality of same and have a look at the menu. One dish after another included something smoked and some kind of roe. Not... More

The dinner starts off with a tour of the kitchen and then some entrees in the kitchen where you get to talk to the kitchen-staff. You are then placed at your table and then get to the courses. I found the food excellent as was the service from the moment we entered the restaurant until we left. The only thing... More

My wife and I just celebrated my birthday here. We just loved the concept: 6 guests in a separate room, sitting on bar stools around a large counter where the chef is preparing all the food in front of us. Very social, it turned out both the other couples there also celebrated birthdays! The food was sublime, we had the... More

The food was tasty and well made. The service was polite but not very attentive. If you needed a waiter you had to stand up and wave your hands to make them see you. We ordered a dry Tokaji and they brought us a sweet one. They took it back right away and brought us the right one. In general... More

There is no doubt that this is a very good restaurant. The initial experience of being greeted by a chef, taken on a tour of the kitchen and being served appetisers in the kitchen is fun and enjoyable. Indeed, the appetisers were of a truly excellent quality. I completely disagree with those reviewers who have described the staff as being... More

Supposed to be one of the best fine dining expérience in Stockholm. Actually very disappointing with a quality of cuisine and service really not at the level of its pricy menu (about 350€ / person with drinks). Globally too buttery and salty, even for scandinavian cuisine. A ridiculous 3 course desert ending up with a chocolate sponge cake that will... More

Description
Matsalen is a modern gastronomic restaurant. Our cuisine is based on using the best fresh produce available here and now in Sweden and other parts of the world, spiced with curiosity and inspiration from everything we encounter.

"The natural cuisine" is a menu that changes with nature and the seasons. We pair wine, beer and other beverages with each of the dishes we create.

All the producers we work with are meticulously selected, they produce something we like. Our menu and drink offering - like the fresh produce - are living and change with the time of the year.
