What a fantastic cafe. So atmospheric inside with a real retro vibe and comfy sheepskin on the chairs. I watched the charming Swiss staff member speak to customers in French, English and Swedish. I suspect he could have conversed in Italian and German too! Very chatty and friendly, and all,his recommendations we followed. The Swedish sandwich cake was a thing of great beauty (enough for one between two), and the saffron bun was delicious. Husband reported the flat white was excellent and my early grey, made with real tea leaves was great too. Clean loo and complimentary water. If you’re in Gamla Stan and you want lunch or fika, then this is the place for you.

Our favourite breakfast cafe while in Stockholm. We came here every day for 10 days for the delicious, and reasonably priced fresh food and juices. The cafe owner Irina and staff were so friendly and welcoming. It was sad to say goodbye. Can highly recommend.

Visiting downton Stockholm, after admiring the royal chambers and the jewels in the treasury, the body asked also for its royal treatment. I confess I looked and was walking to another restaurant in the area when I saw this place. I had a nice vibe from outside and decided to explore. Great decision!
They have different sandwiches and desserts that look good. However, this time they had a “Fisk Gryta” which is a fish soup. The friendly cashier described it as pieces of salmon in a home-made broth with some potatoes, topped with alioli and shrimps, and accompanied with a piece of bread with butter and a local cheese. This sounded appealing enough and went for it.
The soup was marvelous. Flavors very well balanced. Fish was not dominant and the alioli integrated very well. The bread was amazing - I asked for a second piece.
Very nice surprise in the middle of Stockholm!

Expensive: Two pieces of quiche and a small bottle of water for over 30 EUR.
Unhygienic: Waiter sneezed into his hand while serving the quiche on the plate. Hands were not washed or disinfected.
Unfriendly: We sat outside and brought our dishes inside. Since it is a self-service restaurant and we didn't see any waiters outside, we assumed that was what was requested. We were then laughed at by the waiters and had to listen to unfriendly comments.
Conclusion: The oranges in front of the shop are a good marketing tool (it worked for us too), but we regretted the visit.

I was in this place for a quick lunch break during a walk downtown.
The only positive is the central location and courtesy of the girl at the checkout. The environment is certainly unique, especially for a place intended for quick lunches or brunches. Poor hygiene for woolen seat covers that accumulate crumbs and dirt for every guest who sits.
Unfortunately, the prices are decidedly high compared to the quality of the food offered. Bad quality bread; the ordered salad turned out to be a disorganized mixture of ingredients. Among them, I found peas, lettuce (roughly cut), red onion, nuts, tomatoes, avocado, hummus, watermelon, mushrooms, sunflower seeds, radicchio, and another unidentifiable element. The flavors were confusing and lost in this random assembly, making the salad an unidentifiable mix of ingredients put there a little haphazardly. Cost about 20 euros.
The coffee also disappointed expectations. As for the desserts, the flavor clearly denoted a commercial preparation.
Ham, tomato and mozzarella sandwich, despite being a standard, cost 13 euros, disproportionate to the quality of the sandwich, perhaps in line with the Swedish standards of the center. Many oranges for juice, frankly I haven't tried.
In short, if you are looking for a light pit stop without obligation and a well-composed salad, a good coffee, or homemade desserts, I'm afraid this place is not the best choice.

Eye-catching Cafe because there are large sacks with half orange peels outside the windows. They are known for their freshly pressed orange juice. You can also get great delicious strawberries, salmon sandwiches and other light dishes, as well as fine cakes.
There is self-service, you can sit out on a very narrow square and inside.
It's expensive and their only toilet is very nasty.

My husband, I and our two children (1 year and 7 years) went in for coffee. We thought it looked cozy and the cafe was half full and we found room for our pram. There was also another family with children in the cafe with a pram and just like us, they had been given a seat without blocking or obstructing the walkways in the cafe. We were greeted by a waitress who said that we could not have coffee with children in the cafeteria because they had previously accidentally burned a child in a pram with coffee that the waiter accidentally dropped on the child while serving! We asked why the other family with children who were there at the time had been served and received the answer that it was an exception. We were discriminated against and will never visit the cafe again as our children risk getting hot coffee on them and are also unwelcome. Never experienced anything similar.

When I travel I don't normally go to the same restaurant more than once. Even if it's really good. Normally I do this so I can have the most amount of unique and wonderful culinary experiences on one trip as possible. This place was so good it made me break that rule.
Their cinnamon buns will forever make me question why we make them the way we do in North America. They were so moist, fluffy, and void of any hard parts that cut up your palette, or gallons of overly sweet and artificial icing. They were folded together almost like a more compact pretzel, and this made it much easier to eat, especially on the run.
Their fresh made orange and pomegranate juices were utterly delicious. Best I ever had.
I must say my expectations were somewhat low to begin. I wasn't expecting a cafe in the heart of the most touristy part of Stockholm to be so authentic, and have such a high standard of quality. Cafe Schweizer thoroughly exceeded those expectations in every rite.

We came here to experience our first fika! The barista was lovely, introduced the various cakes to us on offer, and we plumped for cinnamon croissant (this cafe's speciality) and two cafe lattes. They're served in bowls - a very quirky touch!
The latte was simply gorgeous, very creamy and mild, and we both loved the croissants - very unusual but very flavourful and much needed after a morning's walk in the snow.
Check out the messages people leave behind - the walls and ceiling are full of visitors' signatures! Spare ceiling tiles are propped up for you to sign (and are installed after they're filled up), so of course we signed with the date we visited.
Would definitely come again.

Great breakfast, friendly staff and a fancy location. We had scrambled eggs twice. They were absolutely top notch! Super fresh...the pan was still bubbling when they were brought to the table. And really large portions. We also had a house tea, which was also huge, and a coffee...unfortunately "only" filter coffee, but that's normal in Stockholm. Nice location. Nothing to complain about really.

We were looking for some hot food and cappuccino for breakfast, which can be hard to find in Stockholm except in big hotels. They had a quiche which they heated which was good and an excellent cappuccino. It was quite busy. Their advertized eggs and smoked fish were not available. We were happy with the choice.

Prawn salad was ok/ average (although odd presentation as avocado was sliced with a skin still on). Good fresh orange juice. Waiter had a little accident at the register spilling OJ on my wallet, it happens. But then another waiter started dusting the animal cloths, that are on the seats. All of them, even taking the one that was on the spare seat in my table! I had to leave at this point, surely dusting these should happen when cafe is not open?

We visited this cosy cafe for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised. It is conveniently located in the old town near and it offered a wide variety of dishes and excellent deserts. Especially the fresh mint tea with lemon, orange, ginger root and honey was excellent value for money for the amount. Highly recommended!

Been coming here over 16 years and the only thing thats still good about it, is the food. The staff need some training on how to communicate effectively with customers,
i was treated nothing more than just a transaction. Of, course, if youre content with being ignored while staff finish off texting and you're OK with short sharp questions when paying, then this is the place to go. It was 24th Dec, not one God Jul or merry Christmas....not even a thank you.
Eating should be an experience, not just because we're hungry. Schweizer need to wind the clock back and get back to what they were...an inviting cosy place to eat with staff that treated you nice and genuinely cared.
Maybe staff shouldn't allowed thier mobile phones when at work....there's a place to start.
Needless to say, we won't come back. Lots of other places to try...no guarantee the service will be better, but we've nothing to lose.

Charming little cafe at the entrance to the old city. They have some specialties such as Lax Pie, apple pie, carrot cake and mint tea with orange, lemon and ginger, and you can have freshly squished orange juice. Recommended!

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
