Had mains of meatballs and pork cheek with tap beers. Service was quick, we had our drinks within a couple minutes and mains not too long after. Good portions and good value considering you are in the centre of old town Stockholm. People are coming in and out all the time so it is a very popular place to eat,... More

This is a really cute and friendly in (what I consider) the nicest little street of Gamla stan, the old part of Stockholm. Unlike some of the othe Restaurants, it is not up-market, and in some ways it has the charme of a student place. Very easy to feel comfortable. No reservations accepted, so make sure you show up around... More

We were taken in like old friends. Very nice friendly service. The menu was standard Swedish, but that was exactly what we wanted. Meatballs like Mom would make and pork cheeks of top quality. Music for the 50+ crowd - classic pop and rock.

I had the best meatballs I've ever had here. It is set in the Old Town part of Stockholm and has a homely traditional feel to it. It was also very reasonably priced compared to some other places.

I have been here with my houseband and it all started with a 45 minutes waiting list (they don't accept booking and everyone who is in the waiting list has to stay there to be ready as soon as the first table will be ready) during which we had tried some very good beers. Food wise, we shared a starter... More

Really great place with good quality food at a sensible price. Only a small place so be ready to wait for a table . At 6.30 we got the last one. Great funky atmosphere, cosy bench seat with cushions and a few bar seats. Good size portions on starters and mains. Maybe share a starter! Meat balls a real must!... More

We ( party of six) were looking for a place to eat so we used Trip Advisor to help us. After reading the reviews, we chose this bistro and bar. My husband and I ordered the seafood soup, Swedish meatballs and the steamed cod. They are all very delicious. Portions and service are great.

What a little gem! We found this after doing some internet searches and wow were we impressed! I had the meatballs and my husband has the salted salmon. It was so so good! The staff were really helpful especially doing all our service in english. Great selection of beers and wine. Dreaming of those Swedish meatballs :)

there is no seats. I overheard the waitstaff telling people in front of us that there is a waiting time for 45minutes. But when the waitress (maybe early 20's) saw us, she said "Wait a minute." She went back to the counter/service area doing what... she took some time there. I couldn't see particular reason why she had to go... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
