Wonderfully located under the chestnut tree, this restaurant i well worth a visit. The atmosphere is something special but if you really want to enjoy, sit down inside, since the porch part of the restaurang is a little bit to crowded for my taste. If the staff would remove one table, it will be just fine. The food was ok!... More

Stumbled upon this small (12 table) cute cafe slightly off the beaten path near the royal palace in the Gamla Stan neighborhood of Stockholm. Choose between tasty sandwiches, soups, pastries, Swedish meatballs or the entrée of the day (braised short ribs our day). A small selection of beer and wine are available. Order at the counter and then find a... More

I really like the idea of preparing everything from scratch. And being gluten sensitive I really appreciate the availability of proper gluten free food and 'fika'. The owner is celiac, so staff should be updated on cross-contamination hazards. (despite this, the girl behind the counter seemed puzzled when I asked for 'clean' butter for my bread. hopefully a single occasion?... More

We have found this cosy nice restaurant by chance. A nice surprise no doubt. We've had traditional dishes, all of them being very good. The only backdaw is the amount of food: we have left being still hungry.

Excellent food at reasonable prices, not a tourist trap. Good helpful service and English spoken. Nice to sit out the front on the boardwalk.

This cafe was recommended by a local shopkeeper. I was thrilled to find they willingly accommodate those of us with diet issues. The salmon salad had lots of fresh salad and a large piece of very tasty salmon. Gluten free dessert choices too. You have to go downstairs to see a beautiful room and push toilette.

We were lucky to get one of 6 tables on the small terrace outside to enjoy the fine weather. The lunch menu is relatively small, consisting of sandwiches, salads and meatballs. There is also a great selection of cakes to follow. We had the salmon sandwich, salmon salad and meatballs which were all very tasty. My wife and daughter also... More

We were 9 people visiting the restaurant. Meat quality was extremely low. Do NOT order Meat dishes. Service was slow and unfriendly. Not recommended

I have had very little luck finding places I could eat with all my food allergies while in Stockholm. I was very excited when reading reviews that this place would work for me and walked over there around 3:45pm on a Sunday afternoon. I was disappointed to find that they are open but were not currently serving a lunch or... More

We had the lunch special sandwiches and a Arboga beer. Both were very good. The place was crowded but the service was very good. You order at the counter and then find a table to sit at so if it's crowded you might want to grab a table first.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
