This is the oldest bakery and serving place in Sweden dating back to 1785. Went there for lunch and chose the home made lasagne. Good, but not exceptional. Sat outside since it was 29 degrees....suddenly a rain storm came and had to run inside. There you find the historical atmosphere of this fabulous place. Not to expensive either, SEK 120... More

Beautiful cafe in brutiful setting. Lovely staff. It's self service, if you order cooked food they bring it out to you. The food is fabulous. I had lasagne, salad, juice and coffee, for about £10! Generous portions! The cake is to die for, very tasty, delicate, melts in the mouth, so you don't feel bloated or in a sugat coma!

The place is centrally located, which attracts lots of tourists, however it's small inside, things goes fast, but the attitude and the friendly customer orientation is missing. Believe it has a lot of one time customers, if you want to visit a cafe and have a nice break with a snack or coffee / there are plenty of more friendly... More

First visited Sundbergs over over 12 years ago, and little has changed since. We've been back 5 times now, always a welcome break when strolling around Gamla Stan. Still serves excellent selection of cakes, bagels, open sandwiches, omelettes. Usual selection of European coffees and teas. This trip I enjoyed a curried chicken bagel, with salad and pickled vegetables, and a... More

Consider itselfs the oldest in town and it is a stylish classic old place with some good sweets to taste. I really prefer the cinnamon buns and mazarins.

We went for coffee and a pastry. The coffee was ok, not fantastic, the cake/pastry was big and very tasty (very big slice). You should visit Sundberg Konditori for the experience of the old days, the desk, chandelier, coffee-samovar, the interior all together is very old school in a charming way. I recommend it as an experience :)

I went to this place to eat lunch, even though the sweets looked delicious! I ate lasagne and I didn't find anything to complain about! The location of this cute place is in the middle of gamla stan!! Perfect! The decoration of the cafe is also something that I liked.

Nice cakes, free coffee refill, but it doesn't compensate the lack of comfort while elbowing the table neighbours, nor the unfriendly staff. Take away cakes cost almost the half the "eat-in" options.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
