We went here with a party of 7 and this restaurant really hit the spot! As soon as we sat down we were given two bottles of water and a basket of gorgeous fresh bread, which were continually topped up. The menu was simple, with something for everyone, but you knew that it was all cooked freshly and to order... More

I hadn't heard of Tranan before but wanted to book somewhere in the neighbourhood as my mother was visiting. When we arrived we could see that it was really popular with locals and tourists. The food was excellent, a great mix of traditional Swedish and modern Spanish - even though it's hard to imagine that mix! We were quite a... More

We did not have reservations, but the friendly staff found room for our family of 5, we have 3 young children. Whilst there is not a children's menu there are a few meals they can serve in smaller portions. Our girls had the meatballs and they were delicious. We also ordered Biff Rydberg and the salmon gravlax. Food, atmosphere and... More

We didn't have reservations, but they found room and made us feel at home. Bread and water served, our Hostess was able to describe the food and made some excellent suggestions. So I had the Veal swedish meatballs It was great. and the rest of our party was pleased as well. I felt they were a bit pricey, but Stockholm... More

We didn't made a reservation so we ended up eating in the basement which was very nice, younger crowd, very friendly staff. The food was good and affordable. Good wine recommendation. We had a great evening.

The place is usually very crowded and the volume of talking high, so if you have a lunch where you need to talk good choose a late lunch or early dinner time. My favourites on the menu is Råraka which is a fried potato "pancake" that comes with spawn of fish, onions and sourcream. Also the toast skagen is excellent.... More

We received the menu and ordered bread and water. The lady told us we could only get bread after we ordered; she said there was no space on the table for water and bread with the menus. From that moment on she threw all our dishes on our table and became very rude. It was like a scene from Seinfeld's... More

4 of us had a drink and a main each for 1200k Service was good they provided plenty of free water and some lovely bread while we waited for our meals. Limited selection but something for everyone - I enjoyed my veal mince balls, mash and peas plus my wife loved the salt cured salmon and dill potatoes, the spring... More

After eating at tourist places, we wanted to try a real Swedish restaurant that caters to locals and that's how we ended up here. It was crowded and cozy, and the waitstaff was attentive. The menu had several choices for seafood and meat. They brought delicious bread and butter to the table. Dinner was very good. I tried a gin,... More

I had the most wonderful time, the food was amazing and the service as well. The atmosphere was lovely, we couldn't ask for a better place. I absolutely recommend this restaurant to everyone who's looking for a fancy place to eat, not too expensive but still a high quality.

Staying in Vasastan

Neighborhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
