We went to Formosa based on recommendations from our hotel staff. We were pleasantly surprised! Formosa's menu offers not only traditional dishes, but also popular newer options such as hot pot and spicy dishes. Ingredients are fresh and sauces are tasty. For such a central location, dish prices are very reasonable.

Great hotpot with fresh and clean raw stuff. As a northern Chinese where hot pot is from, I can sincerely recommend this place to hot pot lovers and Chinese food lovers! We have been here twice and it had kept its brilliant presentation and quality of both Chinese dishes and hot pot. Moreover, the staff is very friendly and helpful.... More

This is a great place for Asian food. Buy from the menu! It's authentic and nice staff. Don't miss the hot pot.

Tired the signature dish of Formosa, the Chinese hotpot with extra seafood, and the whole company got really satisfied. Unfortunately the selection of beers are poor, and the tap beers was served totally without head. So, drink wine and enjoy the hotpot!

I have been to Formosa at least three times, and I have not tried the Swedified versions of Chinese food. However, the Chinese dishes are excellent. Try the hot pot, or why not the ma po doufu. Formosa has quickly become one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Stockholm. Well-cooked Sichuan food that does not shy away from Sichuan peppar... More

I have gone here for lunch a few times. The food is very average and the selection isn't that extensive. There is some salad, fruit, a few sushi options and then some standard Chinese dishes (beef with vegetables, spring rolls, rice, etc.) to choose from. The price is pretty good for the location (95SEK). If you're looking for something simple,... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
