Creative, delicious food, mostly vegetarian, good value

Even if you're not staying in the Södermalm district, as we were, the Whippet Lab is a cool destination for drinks (they distill their own gin and craft impressive beer) and eclectic, seasonal, mostly vegetarian food. Highlights were steamed bao buns with shiitake mushrooms, gnudi with ricotta and pine nuts and salted butter caramel brioche with mascarpone for dessert. Stockholm can be expensive and we felt like we got quality food here at very fair prices. The atmosphere is casual and has whimsical artistic touches (check out the Barbie and Ken doll diorama). I loved watching the well-behaved dogs, including a whippet, looking into the kitchen but not entering, and never barking or begging.

Great little restaurant

We went here many times during our 2 weeks in Sodermalm, Stockholm. The food was very good-small plates. I think we tried everything on the menu. The owner is an American, like us. My husband loved the brown ale. Sometimes there was a whippet present, which was cool. The wait staff and chef were extremely friendly and made us feel at home.

small(ish) plates, big flavors

Cool space, inclusive spirit with a nice sense of humour. Cocktails were proper cocktails ( recommend the smoky mezcal one or the spicy one if you enjoy some heat!) and the draught beer menu is one of the biggest I had seen in a long time. The food turned out to be the main attraction: small(ish) plates, big flavors, very wide array of inspos (US, asian, nordic, etc.). My favorites were the dumplings (couldn't stop ordering), the kimchi pancakes and devilled eggs. Oh and the deserts were to die for (andI'm not even a desert person myself). Apparently they have changed the menu after our visit so we will have to visit again this winter!

Not quite what I was expecting

Have a whippet so wanted to check this place out. Staff was nice, but that's about it. No draft beer even though it had 10 taps and a limited wine selection. Also no whippets. Interesting to check out if you like cocktails otherwise I would avoid until they can figure out what it is they want to be.

Cool spot with great beers and good food!

Had dinner here with a friend of mine. They have a great selection of craft beers on tap and most of the time they have some of their own beer that they make in-house. The food menu is varied and contains many options for vegetarians. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are very friendly!

Delicious diner, good service

Very nice restaurant with delicious food and lots of vegetarian options. You can choose 2-3 (or more of course) dishes and have shared dining with friends/family. Friendly staff and good service and a very nice dog. Absolutely recommended!!!!!

When a problem comes along, you must WhipIT

One of the most laid back places to dine in Stockholm, with the culinary delights from a first rate chef from Paris. You can come here with a book, with your own dog, with a friend, with a date, with a family member you don't like too much, and you can still have a good time. Whippet Lab is about bringing people together, giving them good fodder to both eat and converse and allows you to leave feeling like you have contributed something back to the community. Even if all you have done is have a beer they have crafted from their own brewery. There are lots of stories behind the making of this establishment, and Jami the owner will roll them all out to you if you ask. Again, it is kind like the show Cheers, but with good food and no Ted Danson. It's a win win situation no matter what your situation. Just do it.

Beer and good food

We just returned from Stockholm from our first visit, and we discovered one of the most original and inviting locations for beer and good food we could have imagined. The Whippet and Social Justice Club lives up to its name. You feel like you’re part of something good when you’re inside, especially with one of their craft beers and a hot bowl of the best macaroni and cheese we’ve had. Plenty of other delights and surprises on the menu, and we just hung out. And then we returned two more times on a five-day trip. You are made to feel that welcome and the food and beer keeps you coming back. Their social mission is part of their culture and even more reason to return.

Interesting, beautifully prepared food and fantastic drinks. Warm, quirky atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and cool and welcoming. And there is an actual whippet!

Cool place to hang out

I like this place. Good variety of tasty and innovative food in not too large portions. Their burrata is the best in town! They have a big selection of beers from local breweries. Nice staff. It's a bit arty and queer, feels a bit like Brooklyn, a bit like Berlin. I will come back again.

A HIDDEN GEM

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this establishment. The food was excellent and we found the atmosphere to be casual and welcoming. A unique pairing of fresh ingredients, served in a visual pleasing manner. A wonderful selection of craft beers and spirits. We are looking forward to our next meal at the Whippit Lab and Social Justice Club.

Perfect for vegetarians!

Great food and service! Have been there a couple of times, always with friends, ordering a variety of different dishes to share them. Super tasty. Must try if you are in the neighborhood.

Excellent Food And Spirits

We ate at this charming restaurant twice for dinner while on holiday in Stockholm. Had the dumplings, cured Gravlox and the best ginger beer! My happy ending was the white chocolate mousse.The staff were welcoming, and the service was great..Highly recommended.
